 What it means:

The size of the combinatorial space is problematic. You need to identify which targets to modulate, within specific cellular lineages, at exact dosages, and in optimal temporal sequences.

Traditional high precision physics simulations are too slow to brute force the problem. You can shortcut it with AI inference, using frontier neural networks as hyper fast surrogate models to predict biological interactions instantly. By hardwiring transformer logic into silicon, Etched offers the infrastructure needed to run these massive biological foundation models at scale.

Actually you absolutely can earn $1 billion dollars. It's very simple: You get rewarded depending on the scale of the problem you solve for people. You have complete freedom to work at a job for a set amount, but if you choose a job anyone can do, don't expect to make much money. If you become skilled in a high demand job few can do, you'll make lots of money. If take massive risk and set out on your own and build something that people really want or need but that nobody else has figured out how to do or that you can do better than anyone else, you can make a fortune. Remove the incentive for people to take those risks and you also remove the outcomes. Who's going to slave away 15 hours a day, take massive risk, and give everything they have for no reward?
