Sobre a recente imposição de novas tarifas ao Brasil em decorrência das investigações conduzidas pelo Escritório do Representante Comercial dos Estados Unidos, enfatizei que as alegações que basearam a medida (desmatamento, acordos preferenciais, propriedade intelectual, combate à corrupção, Pix, etanol e importações de produtos com trabalho forçado) são infundadas. Destaquei que as tarifas afetam negativamente tanto o Brasil quanto os Estados Unidos, e afirmei que seguir na mesa de negociação é a melhor opção para os dois países. Reiterei a importância de trabalharmos juntos para que os Estados Unidos continuem sendo um dos principais parceiros comerciais do Brasil. Every rule moves a decision closer to the person doing the work. Meetings and approval chains survive because removing them was never anyone’s job.
