C’est l’enjeu qui a été au cœur de Durban, où 22 hauts fonctionnaires représentant 17 États parties à la ZLECAf ont participé à la deuxième édition du Cours intensif exécutif sur les opportunités de production automobile africaine.   Au programme : achats automobiles, montée en puissance de la fabrication de composants, Fonds automobile et intégration dans les chaînes de valeur régionales.

L’opportunité automobile africaine va bien au-delà de l’assemblage de véhicules. Elle englobe les composants, les fournisseurs et les services qui rendent la production possible.   L’enjeu pour les pays africains est d’identifier là où ils peuvent s’insérer dans ces chaînes de valeur régionales.

That was the focus in Durban, where 22 senior government officials representing 17 AfCFTA State Parties participated in the second Executive Short Course on African automotive production opportunities. Participants explored automotive procurement, scaling up component manufacturing, the proposed Automotive Fund and opportunities for countries to integrate into regional automotive value chains.

Africa’s automotive opportunity extends beyond assembling vehicles. It includes the components, suppliers and services that make production possible. The opportunity for African countries is to identify where they can participate in these regional value chains.

Établie par un consortium d’Alstom et d’Ubumbano Rail, Gibela fabrique des trains pour le marché local et développe une stratégie africaine pour les exporter à travers le continent.   Les discussions avec M. Rail infrastructure is essential to connecting Africa's markets. H.E. Wamkele Mene visited Gibela's train manufacturing facility in Nigel, South Africa @RailGibela . Established through a consortium of Alstom and Ubumbano Rail, Gibela manufactures trains for local supply and is developing an African strategy to manufacture and export trains across the continent. Discussions with Mr Sipho Sikhosana, CEO of Ubumbano Operating Company, focused on pursuing this opportunity under the AfCFTA framework, with support from African Development Finance Institutions. #AfCFTA #RailTransport #Industrialisation #CreatingOneAfricanMarket
