Yesterday, May 19th, in Abuja, I attended the Presidential screening organised by our party, which took over two and a half hours. They carefully reviewed all my documents, including my degree certificates, NYSC credentials, and age declarations. During the process, I also addressed questions regarding my vision for a new Nigeria and the type of leadership our nation urgently needs right now. Following this, I was cleared and received the presidential nomination form I had previously paid for. I would like to commend the screening committee, led by former governor Sam Egwu, for their thorough and professional approach. Additionally, I appreciate our party's leadership for upholding the democratic process. A New Nigeria is POssible. - PO

The way Nigerians switched from Labour to ADC and then to NDC because of @PeterObi should be studied in universities. This man is going to become President eventually in a free and fair election. The goal now should be ensuring that by any means necessary.

And PETER OBI is not the lesser evil, never in our history have we had a politician that the opposition couldn’t stifle by pinning some of their crimes on them. In the context of politics, He is a SAINT, squeaky clean SAINT OBI.

I am ranting because I am not doing well. Forget all the saturated pictures and collaged videos from £87 trips but all of my family is in Nigeria. They don't have the same travel access, same illusion of comfort, freedom to buy whatever they want without mental gymnastics - and this is the fucking truth. Whatever policy they're affected with, affects me. Whatever injustice they're robbed off with, robs on me. Geographically, I might not be on Nigerian soil but mentally, I never left. Financially, I never left. Emotionally, I never left. I am aware that I am not doing well. Wherever you are in the diaspora, if you current situation isn't mirrored across all of your current family members, I'm sorry to burst your bubble - you're not doing well. You've not escaped. So if awakening citizen consciousness is my own contribution to the possibility of a better Nigeria, I will play my part. This is why we speak up. I can't peel off my skin, erase my Oduduwa factor, dump my green passport so in an out, I'm still a Nigerian - I'll always be. From a distance, that's all anyone will ever see even if I get a second citizenship, so again, something has to give. I won't be silent. I won't cower. My voice will not be compromised because of proximity to access. These conversations are like lints and sparks - I can only but hope it eventually sparks a fire that makes us hit the streets. Finally, Nigeria works. If a system is designed to fail and it fails, that system has succeeded. The problems of Nigeria are artificially manufactured, so a new government comes in reverses one floor of a mountain of problems they created - they can praise it as progress. The poverty levels we're in, is a deliberate design - it is a tool and it's weaponization is the only way the cankerworms in charge can reign supreme. If you keep a people hungry enough, you can flash them hope with AC chilling, WiFi blazing and jollof steaming. If you systematically strip people of their dreams and aspirations, keep them at the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy of needs - you can easily convert them to willing slaves. Nigeria works - but the question is, who is it working for?

The Poor Must Not Be Punished While the Powerful Walk Free Yesterday, I sincerely apologised to Ibom Air and its crew for the unacceptable conduct of one of their passengers. This morning, I woke up to learn that the passenger, the young Ms. Comfort Emmanson in her twenties, has been banned from flying for life—once again showing how our system works, proving the truth of Anacharsis’ words that “the law is like a spider’s web: it catches the weak, while the powerful break through with ease.” There is everything systemically Wrong and unjust about this authoritarian decision. What due process was followed over night leading to this sanction? Have we exhausted the avenues of justice and compassionate resolution on this matter? It is a tragic irony that a young lady in her twenties can be banned for life, while we—her parents —commit worse crimes against humanity and are celebrated; those in positions of authority perpetrate far greater offences that harm the nation deeply, yet move freely in comfort, shielded from consequences, and in Ms. Emmanson’s case, the authorities acted with lightning speed, but the same urgency is absent when dealing with the influential and politically connected. If this young woman, who indeed acted wrongly, now seeks to apologise, who will hear her cry in a country where the pain of the poor is invisible and the dignity of the less privileged is often disregarded? Justice must be consistent, or it becomes oppression in disguise. This must change. Justice must be equal for all. There must be room for compassion, for rehabilitation, and for understanding when misconduct stems from frustration or displaced aggression. Power must never determine who is punished and who is pardoned. May God heal our land. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
