Jag begav mig till Örebros rådhus för att träffa Markus Allard. Under lång tid har han stått överst på min lista över svenskar jag vill intervjua. I USA har jag försökt att skildra Trump och MAGA som epokgörande disruptor, snarare än utefter journalistkollegornas moral. I Sverige upplever jag fortfarande att det politiska landskapet baseras på en gammal och förutsägbar vänster-högerskala. I Markus Allard och Örebropartiet ser jag för första gången ett svenskt alternativ som påminner om det jag studerat i USA. Allard gör upp med etablissemanget på båda sidor, vägrar placera sig på en klassisk vänster-högerskala och baserar sin politik på vad han kallar “klassmedveten populism”. I höst kanderar han och partiet till riksdagen.
