Standing in line at CVS today to pick up a prescription for Yolanda. They were still 10 minutes from reopening after lunch (yes, really), and about 60 people were waiting. An older gentleman—a Navy veteran—and I started talking about Fauci’s refusal to testify. Before long, it felt like the entire line was listening. I was about to take a poll when we realized something surprising: roughly 90% of the people around us had no idea what we were talking about. Most had never even heard of the Fauci diary. Whether you see that as concerning or not, it says something about how fragmented the public information landscape has become. So Newsom apparently stole the affair, the apology, and the hero role. That is efficiency. Fauci and Newsom are living proof that elite accountability works differently.
