Hello. I’m Mayor Rob Harrington. I'm honored by the confidence City Council has placed in me and grateful for the opportunity to serve. I'll lead by listening, treating people with respect and working every day to do what's best for our city. Together, we'll focus on the issues that matter most to our residents while making thoughtful decisions that will position our city for the future. Over the months ahead, my goal is to help bring people together and keep Charlotte moving in the right direction.

As of this tweet, the City of Charlotte now has a new mayor. Mayor Rob Harrington was sworn in and officially took office the morning of Wednesday, July 1. Charlotte City Council selected Robert Harrington as interim mayor to help guide Charlotte through its next chapter.  I'm grateful for Harrington's leadership and for the care he will bring to this role.  Charlotte's future is bright, and I know this city will continue moving forward with strength and purpose.

Today, on Gun Violence Awareness Day, we honor lives lost and stand with families and communities forever changed by gun violence. This is more than awareness — it's about action, partnership, and protecting one another.  Together, we can create a city where every resident feels safe and every life is valued.

Charlotte is stepping up to meet one of our biggest challenges: housing.  Today we're kicking off the National Housing Innovation Challenge, blending bold ideas of design and build to expand affordable housing and reimagine how we grow.  We're proud to bring 20 university teams together to construct innovative, attainable homes. Beginning today Charlotte Water will implement mandatory water restrictions to help protect our region’s water supply. These measures are an important step to reduce non-essential water use and ensure we can meet the needs of our growing community, especially during changing conditions. I encourage everyone to do their part—small actions like limiting outdoor watering and reducing unnecessary use can make a big difference. This week is National Police Week – a time to honor the service and sacrifice of the men and women of @CMPD and law enforcement agencies across the country. We also remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty and stand with the families who carry the legacy forward. Thank you for your service and commitment to our community.

Happy Mother’s Day! Take time to celebrate the strength and love of mothers and mother figures in your life today. As a mom and grandmother, I’m especially proud of my children and grandchildren, they inspire me and remind me why this work matters. Wishing you a day filled with appreciation and joy.

Today, we’re proud to welcome #NavyWeek to Charlotte! This weeklong visit gives our community a chance to connect with the men and women who serve our country and to learn more about the Navy’s mission around the world. It was an honor to present the official #NavyWeek proclamation to Captain Smith, a Matthews native and NC State graduate whose leadership and service make our region proud. Charlotte is grateful to host these sailors and to recognize their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to protecting our nation.
