She seems to think any pipeline is a good thing when most of her base, I believe, would rather have no pipeline than play footsies with a fork tongued net-zero globalist. What a mess. Every cow on Earth is part of a closed CO₂ loop. Herbivores don’t create new carbon. They’re effectively CO₂ neutral. Cattle are nature’s great grazers — bulk feeders turning roughage into protein while keeping grasslands healthy. Without them, vast areas would atrophy into lifeless, nutrient-poor topsoil. The carbon a cow emits today was pulled from the air by the grass it ate just months earlier. It’s a rolling ledger: no net addition to the global system. Through photosynthesis, plants turn atmospheric CO₂ into carbohydrates. Cattle eat the grass, digest it, and return that same carbon to the atmosphere as CO₂ and CH₄. Nothing extra destabilises the system. Within roughly a decade, that methane oxidises back into CO₂ — ready for the next season’s grass to breathe in again. Cattle aren’t a new source of greenhouse gases. They’re recyclers in the biogenic carbon cycle.

I talked to some folks at Pembina about the proposed power plant near Edmonton. "There's so much gas in the Alliance pipeline, that we might as well just burn some and make electricity ". It barely makes sense economically, but it's politically confusing. It's not green. It's contrary to the "Net Zero" power grid vision. It's in a bad place from a technical point of view. It's powering AI, which will eliminate 1,000s of jobs. But, it has a chance of actually getting built, unlike the pipeline. So is this the real horse trading that happened behind closed doors last week? To me it looks like this is the only capital project that the private sector could offer to Carney, but it wasn't big enough to convince the public that Ottawa is working with Alberta. Not sexy like a big "nation building" pipeline. Carney quietly allowed a power plant that is totally contrary to his vision, in exchange for using Pembina's name in a pipeline press release.

Keith Wilson, K.C., co-lead of Let Alberta Decide, said Albertans support pipelines, expanded market access, and getting Alberta resources to tidewater, but not under a system that keeps Ottawa in control while forcing Albertans to carry the cost. “Albertans want pipelines built, but a pipeline is not a victory if Ottawa makes the product too expensive to produce and leaves taxpayers holding the bill,” said Wilson. “This announcement does not prove Canada works for Alberta. It proves the opposite.” Wilson said it has taken more than a year of federal-provincial negotiations, political bargaining, B.C. compensation demands, carbon capture conditions, and major taxpayer commitments just to bring Alberta to an uncertain starting point. “That is not a functioning federation,” Wilson said. “That is a province being forced to ask permission to develop the resources that built this country.” The Canada-B.C. agreement confirms any new pipeline remains tied to the Pathways carbon capture project and consultation obligations. Let Alberta Decide said the announcement does nothing to fix the deeper problem: Ottawa’s regulatory and Net Zero framework has damaged investor confidence, increased costs, and made major resource projects dependent on government intervention instead of private capital. “A pipeline does not create new barrels,” Wilson said. “Companies invest when production is competitive. While I love my Alberta friends, today I’d like to send everyone a reminder: Alberta isn’t the only region that wants out and needs access and control over resource development For example, the Yukon literally has two of the largest proven natgas wells in North America, sitting there ready to go But we can’t get any products to market because of tanker bans, elbows up bullshit, environmental nonsense, indigenous obstruction …which forces our territory on federal welfare… Ottawa loves it because they can send as many govt employees from ontario up here as it takes to vote for their pay check and hold the riding. But One pipeline would pay for the Yukon’s future for 100 years. No one in this country needs Ottawa. The federal govt is a solution looking for a problem. All ottawa does is cost us money, freedom and our economic future. independence shouldn’t be a left-wing or right wing movement.
