Definitely. Being successful without some element of luck isn’t possible. Imagine going for an interview where the interviewer has already written you off before you even speak. Or bidding for a contract where the final person whose signature matters simply decides not to approve it for reasons beyond your control. You can prepare, work hard, and be qualified, but sometimes outcomes still hinge on variables you don’t control. That’s why hard work matters but so does luck, grace, favor, or whatever name you choose to give it.

Anyone who tells you there's not an element of luck to success in life is lying to you. (yeah, yeah, I know, call it whatever suits you - grace, favor, etc.) Take the current ongoing interviews of the @MtScholarships for example, despite the fact that we have an Interview Guide and the interviewers have gone through an orientation, a candidate's ultimate outcome sometimes still depends on the interviewer(s) they get. Some people are tough and would say "no" I don't think this person is ready. Some people, like me, are very easy. You would have to mess up big time for me to say "no." Sometimes I wonder if the difference between a "no" and a "yes" for a candidate comes down to the set of interviewers they got. That's life, and it's ok. Everybody will be alright.

You people better use your head before" People are saying this and many other similar things which are in fact very correct and good advice. Many people and in fact greater amount of people in the US with similar or more income and even more years of saving are not taking the leap. The advise isn't for everyone and he isnt saying you should follow suit. The key factor is having the drive, skill and ability to take the required risk and have ownership of something and sell your time. People will always find reasons albeit genuine ones not to do things even when they have everything. So let's dead the thought of he had savings etc.

Starting your career on $120k outside California was already a huge privilege, even if it was California in 2012. Doubling that income over the next 10 years was impressive, but his starting point and career trajectory clearly gave him a strong advantage. Dream big, but dream with context o 😂😂

I earned $120K a year working for Shell in 2012. Ten years and multiple promotions later, in 2022, that figure has doubled to $240K a year. In 2023, I stumbled on an internal, confidential, document that showed the salaries of my superiors. I saw that even if I were promoted multiple times again, the best I could hope for in another 10 years was another doubling to around $480K a year. This may sound crazy saying it out loud but that wasn’t cutting it for me. I simply didn’t want the next 10 years to be a repeat of the last 10. I wanted geometric progression, not an arithmetic one. On my 40th birthday, in 2023, I was asked to make a wish as a blew the candles on my birthday cake. “Get the hell out of Shell,” I quietly whispered. Months later, I was out. In 2024, my businesses grossed $500K; in 2025, they did $1M - geometric progression. It required me to be delusional about my abilities, to bank on the faithfulness of God and to trust that inner voice that always nag at me that I could be more, I could do more and I could have more.
