Also enriched himself with behind the scenes deals. Go ahead defend the indefensible.

I gave my youth and vitality to my children. They did siphon off 20+ years of my life. I am now less hot than I was before, it's true. But now we all go see the Odyssey together and debate whether it was awesome or awful. We worship and pray together at church on Sunday, and then go home and play poker (with chips not money stop freaking out) and eat grilled cheese sandwiches. We watch their soccer games, help them fundraise for mission trips and exchange programs, watch them get married to amazing people, live convictionally in a hostile culture, gang up against their father in Catan, turn the hearts of their friends towards Christ, and hit PRs at the gym. I pity women like this. They will only realize what they have missed when it is too late.

They didn’t just prosecute Shiloh Hendrix. They ran a deliberate procedural ambush and dared anyone to call it out. Defense attorney Brian Karalus arrives in Rochester expecting a First Amendment fight. Instead he gets a police report with names blacked out ... including the child ... that stay blacked out all the way through pretrial. He emails the prosecutor the weekend before trial: “Am I missing something? I still don’t know who you’re calling to testify.” Monday morning the prosecutor finally walks a piece of paper up to the bench with the witness names. When Karalus objects, the judge explodes at him, not the prosecutors who had ignored her own prior order to turn over the list. In chambers she admits the prosecution was playing games… then still lets them keep playing. Meanwhile the man who filmed the viral video and pushed Hendrix to say the word ... Sharmake Beyle Omar ... is nowhere to be found. He had fled to Somalia. The same prosecutors who months earlier dismissed his third- and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct charges involving a 16-year-old “in the interest of justice” somehow had no problem stretching a park argument into a criminal case. One set of rules for the cameraman with the serious priors. A completely different set for the American woman who said a bad word. This is what prosecutorial corruption looks like when it’s dressed up as righteousness. They withheld basic information until the last possible second. They protected the absent accuser. They let activist pressure dictate the charge menu. And when the defense tried to force transparency, the court protected the process instead of the defendant. The verdict was never the real story. The real story is how far the people with the power to charge were willing to bend the rules to get it. (article below)

The problem here is caused by wealth without magnanimity. I loved learning about Cosimo d’Medici because men like that understood the wealth they acquired was meant to be spent on patronizing the arts, the humanities, civilization. He built multiple libraries and hired many people to go around not just buying rare and valuable books but to spend their days copying them out so more people could read them. Taxation attempts to coerce magnanimity out of the wealthy but this doesn’t work because taxation is not ordered by virtue so it cannot do anything virtuous. Taxation is the greed of the state checking the greed of the individual. The only way that we can inculcate magnanimity in society is by reshaping the culture itself, that is, through the way we raise our children, the stories we tell and the art that we create. At least, that’s the idea that I have. I’m sure people smarter than me can think about this problem better.

I grew up as a poor kid in an incredibly affluent area -- and I saw a lot of what one might call "old money" rich folks. UHNW people who drove older BMWs or Volvos and dressed not all that differently from middle-class folks. Back in 80s/90s, at least where I grew up, it was not easy to tell who was super-HNW because they tended not to throw it in anyone's face. Kaitlan's implication here is that the only good question is an adversarial question, and that only adversarial questions serve taxpayers. I could see how she reached that conclusion working for CNN, where her audience is virulently anti-Trump. But many other reporters view the Oval Office differently. Sweden had the loosest COVID-19 restrictions in the developed world. The United States was much stricter. There is no evidence that Fauci's draconian policies saved lives. There is indisputable evidence that they killed tens or hundreds of thousands of people.

Another day, another opportunity to appreciate President Trump’s commitment to transparency and restoring trust in our government. Had Kamala won, we would never have seen the documentary evidence of Fauci’s misconduct.

Genuine mass deportations would result in a crash of real estate prices, and would also drive up wages (employers would need to make it worth it or mechanize). It would be a wealth transfer from the old to the young. Do your own math on whether you think this could happen.
