#SaveStargate The first thing Stargate taught me: Everything generally works out better in a cooperative world. Looking back, I think Stargate is one of the reasons I became so politically independent. Not because Stargate taught me that politics doesn’t matter, but because it taught me that diplomacy, cooperation, and mutual respect often matter more. At its core, Stargate was never just a show about military expeditions, fighting aliens, and procuring advanced technologies. It was a show about people from different worlds, cultures, and perspectives learning exactly how to work together. Time and time again, the biggest victories came not from conquest, but from collaboration and alliance formation. That’s one reason SGU had such a rocky start with part of the existing fanbase. While a lot of people grew to appreciate it over time, the show focused far more on interpersonal conflict than SG-1 or Atlantis ever did. For many of us fans, it felt like a departure from one of the core themes that had always defined Stargate: that cooperation is ultimately more powerful than division. I will always appreciate the writers of Stargate for creating a show that wasn’t simplistic about any of this. The military was often portrayed as heroic, but not infallible. Civilian leadership remained important too. The writers regularly explored the balance between militaristic necessity and civilian oversight. They presented a world where good people could disagree, where institutions weren’t always right, and where solutions usually required people to work together rather than simply imposing their will. Those ideas have followed me throughout my life. Every fandom contains politics. That’s unavoidable. But Stargate has always felt unusually resistant to political tribalism. The themes are bigger than politics. They’re about cooperation, exploration, and finding common ground with those who see the world differently than you do. That’s why I believe Stargate is a force for good. Not because the proper return of this franchise will solve all of our problems, but because stories shape individuals, and those individuals shape culture. Stargate encouraged millions of people to believe that understanding each other is better than fighting each other, and that lasting cooperation begins when someone chooses to start with forgiveness. That’s why I’ve made it my personal mission to ensure that Stargate returns with those core themes intact. Because this world needs them! @AmazonMGMStudio

A lot of folks have asked why I jumped into the #SaveStargate campaign. Truth is, this was never about how many episodes I appeared in. It was about supporting friends, standing behind a cast and crew I respect and recognizing one of the most passionate fan communities out there. Stargate shouldn’t continue simply because fans want more episodes. It should continue because it represents something modern television is losing: hope, exploration, intelligence and humanity. It showed us that courage, curiosity and cooperation could overcome even the greatest challenges. Few franchises built a universe this rich while remaining grounded in characters we genuinely cared about. For many of us, Stargate wasn’t just entertainment—it inspired a sense of wonder and possibility. A story that still means this much to people decades later has earned the right to continue.
