30,000 children go to great schools through the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program. Most are Black or Latino. Six Democrats on this stage promise to kick them out of their schools.

There is something fundamentally wrong with Maine Democrat US Senate candidate Graham Platner and something equally troubling about how mainstream Democrats are explaining away his many, many misdeeds. Here are just a few examples: 1. Platner had inked a Nazi tattoo on his chest and it wasn’t just any Nazi tattoo. It was an SS Totenkopf, the emblem of the guards at the most notorious death camps including Auschwitz. Dem Explanation: Marines will be marines. Platner himself said he was really drunk (which doesn’t explain why he kept it and showed it off for years). 2. Platner engaged in victim shaming sexual assault victims, writing that it was their fault they got raped because they drank too much. Dem Explanation: Boys will be boys/It came from a darker time and mental illness. Platner himself said it was caused by rage and isolation. 3. Platner wrote on Reddit that Black people don’t tip. Dem Explanation: “Legitimate Curiosity” (whatever that means). Platner said he was disillusioned and suffering from mental health issues. 4. Platner says rural white Americans are “racist and stupid.” Dem Explanation: In fairness, Ken Martin condemned these comments but other Democrats defend Platner as “just trying to get a rise out of people.” Platner says PTSD caused these comments. 5. Platner says All Cops Are Bastards. Dem Explanation: “Not Disqualifying.” Platner says these comments come from a darker time. 6. Platner has said many, many, many homophobic things. Dem Explanation: They’re indefensible things from his past that don’t reflect his current character/marines will be marines. Platner blames depression. 7. Platner said he was a communist. Dem Explanation: He meant Democrat Socialist (like there is a difference). 8. Platner says the US army is “fat, lazy trash.” Dem Explanation: Lacks context. 9. Platner attacked a Purple Heart recipient who was shot 4 times drawing fire away from his squad, saying the, “dumb motherf----- didn't deserve to live" and attributed his survival to "poor marksmanship on the Taliban's part." Dem Explanation: Crickets. Platner has refused to apologize. 10. Platner says the Virgin Mary is a skank. Dem Explanation: Marines will be marines. These are not isolated incidents. This list is far from complete. Is this the type of man we want in the US Senate? Kudos to the handful of brave Democrats asking tough questions about Platner, especially @melissadderosa and @yemisi who are taking a lot of flak for doing the right thing.
