The suppression order was lifted allowing Nilushan Jayanga Silva Ginthota Vidhanage to be named, he was earlier found guilty of rape as well as two charges of unlawful sexual connection. The Judge said that Vidhanage had also pleaded guilty to a charge of intimidation which related to him "accosting or approaching" an 11-year-old girl after she had left school. "You stopped your car, you asked her whether she wanted a cigarette, she declined. You then asked her whether she wanted a ride in your car she declined, and then you forcefully directed her to get in the car.” RNZ reported that this animal will be deported back to Sri Lanka after he serves a third of his sentence.

The most important thing to do in November is to vote! Put aside your mistrust of politics, politicians, parties, policies. Use your democratic right to have your say. If you don't, please don't come on here moaning about the result. If you didn't vote, IMO you don't have the right to criticise who ends up in power, because you withheld your contribution to electing them or not electing them.
