Every girl should be taught in sex ed that our fertility peaks in our 20s, begins declining gradually around age 30, and drops sharply after age 35. So many girls graduate high school not understanding this at all, and plan their college and career path without understanding how their reproductive window works. At 25, you have a 25% chance of getting pregnant each cycle. At 35, it's 15%. At 40, it's 5%. By 35, one in three women will struggle with infertility. The media shows you celebrities having babies at 42 and tells you there's no rush. What they don't show you is the IVF cycles, the miscarriages, the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent trying to do at 40 what your body would have done for free at 25. Women used to be called "old maids" if they were still single by 25. There was a sense of urgency. Women today have none of that social pressure, but 1 in 6 end up childless even though they wanted kids. Your fertility is a gift with an expiration date. The career will wait. Your biology won't.
