After the EFF defended Advocate Teffo on the 29th of April 2022 when he was arrested in court for a pending warrant, Teffo’s conduct in Senzo’s case degenerated into a spiral. What followed were months of disrespect to the court, undermining of the case, withdrawing from the case and then saying he wants to return to the case with a list of conditions. It was on the 14th of July 2022 at an EFF press conference that the CIC Julius Malema called him out for making a mockery of the case of the slain Senzo Meyiwa and centering himself in the matter. Teffo then opened a case of defamation against the EFF President on the 2nd of September 2022 - the statement below was our response. Time does not erase history and memory. Teffo must not use Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi’s critical intervention on lawlessness in SA, to settle a personal score. Thanks.

I stand firmly with Commissioner @nazier_paulsen. What he is raising is not just an opinion. It is the reality of the war against the poor in Cape Town and across this country. The crisis of gangsterism and drugs is not born in a vacuum. It is the direct result of apartheid’s brutal legacy of forced removals, land theft, and systemic abandonment. Our people were thrown into the outskirts of this city with nothing. No land. No schools. No jobs. No future. You cannot police oppression. You cannot arrest poverty. What our communities need is not more SAPS vehicles. They need revolutionary investment and socialist transformation. We must build schools that produce thinkers and fighters. We need to take time out and understand the concept of Com-Tsotsi! In the struggle, there was a contestation over the soul of the black liberation project between comrades & com-tsotsies This contest, is responsible for the nature and character of the lot that is preceding over politics today, not just in the ANC, but across the board! Ours, is the era where com-tsotsie’s won over comrades and began to dictated the value system of doing politics in society! The rise of com-tsotsies was assisted by both the old order & naivety of comrades. Comrades who underestimated their control over com-tsotsies, since they justified the very fact of using them in the struggle. We need time to break it down for the post-colonial/post-apartheid order!
