A NARCISSISTIC HUSBAND CAN BE MARRIED, BUT STILL LIVE LIKE A SINGLE MAN.
He has a wife.
Children.
A home.
A family life.
But somehow…
he still puts his own schedule first.
Years ago, my daughter came home from her part-time college job looking stressed out. She had been offered a spot in a prestigious, unpaid research internship that would have looked incredible on her grad school applications.
The problem? The internship was full-time for two months. She was working a retail job making about $12 an hour, maybe 15 hours a week.
When she asked her manager for a leave of absence, the manager pulled her into the back office and gave her an ultimatum: "If you leave for two months, I can't guarantee you'll still have a job here when you come back. You need to decide by tomorrow—the internship or this job."
She came home genuinely torn. She was worried about the money, worried about burning a bridge, worried that walking away would make her "unreliable."
I sat her down and said, "Let me make this very simple for you. This manager is asking you to choose between a resume line that will last your entire career and a replaceable shift job at a store that will replace you in 48 hours if you quit. What do you think the right call is?"
She laughed and said, "When you put it that way, it sounds ridiculous."
I told her, "That's because it is. This is exactly why you need to build what's called 'walk-away money.' You never want to be in a position where a low-stakes gig has enough leverage over you to make you sacrifice your future."
She took the internship. The manager didn't rehire her when she got back. She didn't care. That internship opened doors that changed the trajectory of her career.
I'm glad she learned that lesson when the stakes were low. Too many people spend their whole lives afraid to walk away from a bad deal because they think loyalty matters.
Loyalty only matters when it's mutual. Otherwise, it's just exploitation with good branding.

2026 paychecks so weak they pull up just to say “nah” 😂
Taxes took half in the womb, inflation turned the rest into lint. Salary doing comedy, rent doing Olympics.

I think weed suppresses your real personality. It makes you overlook a lot of things. You move slow. If you smoke everyday you are definitely not yourself.
The clearest sign of emotional intelligence is when someone Knows “when to stop talking”. Not every thought needs expression, not every feeling needs discussion. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is keep your mouth shut and let people process.
