🚨 SECOND FI (YOROI) SECURITY INCIDENT: WHAT CARDANO USERS NEED TO KNOW 🚨 Over the last 24 hours, EMURGO and the SecondFi (formerly Yoroi) team confirmed a security incident impacting a limited number of Cardano wallets. While the issue has reportedly been contained, there is one critical detail every Cardano user needs to understand: ⚠️ If a recovery phrase was exposed during wallet creation, maintenance mode cannot protect it. A compromised seed phrase can be used from ANY wallet software, anywhere in the world. That means: ❌ Updating the app doesn't automatically make you safe ❌ Waiting for maintenance mode to end doesn't automatically make you safe ❌ Restoring the SAME seed phrase into Lace, Eternl, Typhon, or VESPR doesn't automatically make you safe If your seed phrase was compromised, the ONLY long-term fix is: 1️⃣ Create a BRAND-NEW wallet with a BRAND-NEW recovery phrase 2️⃣ Write down and secure the new recovery phrase offline 3️⃣ Restore your OLD Yoroi/SecondFi wallet into a trusted wallet application 4️⃣ Transfer EVERYTHING to the new wallet: • ADA • NIGHT • Native Tokens • NFTs • LP Positions • Governance Assets • Staking Rewards 5️⃣ Retire the old seed phrase forever 🔍 WHO IS MOST AT RISK? • Users who created a wallet in Yoroi/SecondFi • Users who imported a seed phrase into Yoroi/SecondFi • Users who claimed NIGHT • Users who connected dApps • Users who recently performed swaps or transactions • Users seeing unauthorized outgoing transactions 🟢 WHO APPEARS SAFER? • Ledger users • Trezor users • Daedalus-only users • Wallets whose private keys never existed inside Yoroi/SecondFi software ⚠️ MIDNIGHT USERS SHOULD PAY ATTENTION If you claimed NIGHT, participated in Glacier Drop activities, or connected your Cardano wallet to Midnight-related services using a Yoroi/SecondFi-generated seed phrase, you should review your risk profile carefully. The concern is not Midnight itself. The concern is whether the original recovery phrase may have been exposed. 🚫 SCAM WARNING The next phase of every security incident is scammer exploitation. Never: ❌ Share your seed phrase ❌ Trust DMs claiming to be support ❌ Enter your seed phrase into websites ❌ Trust "recovery services" ❌ Trust "compensation claim" links Official teams will NEVER ask for your recovery phrase. I've literally poured all my life savings into Cardano for the past 5 years. Built my X account around Cardano. Built a stakepool on Cardano. Showed up every freaking day (even on weekends, holidays or when wasn't feeling like it. A lot of Cardano Content creators have stopped or left, times are rough, I get it. After investing so much time and effort there is noo way I am leaving this chain any time soon. I still believe in Cardano even if things didn't turn out how we wished they would.
