Somebody applies for funding to restore the species-rich grassland. Not one of those changes was caused by the climate. Every one of them was caused by nothing eating anything. The chalk downland, the hay meadow, the Cumbrian fell, the Welsh ffridd. All of it is a grazed habitat, and it stops existing the day the grazing stops. The countryside you want saved is not a wilderness that farmers wandered into. It is six thousand years of grass, weather and a hungry mouth. Then somebody took the mouth away to save it.
