With Kiwis facing higher prices at the pump and for everyday goods, the best way to prevent inflation is by restoring stability in the Gulf and returning safe shipping to the Strait of Hormuz.   That’s why I spoke with Pakistan’s Prime Minister, @CMShehbaz, tonight. I thanked the Prime Minister for his work facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, and for Pakistan’s tireless efforts towards a longer-term peace.   The best pathway to a sustainable solution in the Middle East is through diplomacy.

România salută acordul de încetare a focului pe o perioadă de două săptămâni între SUA și Iran în Orientul Mijlociu, un pas esențial către dezamorsarea conflictului în regiune. Romania apreciază eforturile mediatorilor regionali, în special ale Pakistanului, care colaborează cu Egiptul și Turcia. Subliniem necesitatea ca toate părțile să respecte pe deplin și să pună în aplicare cu bună-credință încetarea ostilităților, ceea ce ar permite negociatorilor să își continue activitatea. De asemenea, este esențial ca traficul maritim prin Strâmtoarea Ormuz să fie reluat și ca libertatea de navigație să fie garantată în conformitate cu dreptul internațional, contribuind astfel la revenirea la stabilitate și predictibilitate a piețelor energetice și alimentare. Susținem eforturile diplomatice menite să rezolve toate problemele importante dintre părți. Armenia welcomes the crucial decision between US & Iran to cease all hostilities. We also commend the mediation efforts, including those of Pakistan & firmly believe that diplomacy should prevail to resolve all outstanding issues & preserve peace in the Middle East.

Sweden welcomes the agreement of a two-week mutual ceasefire between the United States and Iran, following important mediation efforts by Pakistan, among others, which may also create conditions for the restoration of free passage through the Strait of Hormuz. It is vital that all parties now exercise maximum restraint – to safeguard security in the region, to secure vital global supply chains and to protect innocent civilians. It is also important to now build further on this towards a solution that is sustainable in the long term and prevents Iran from developing nuclear weapons, threatening security in the region and carrying out destabilising activities in the region and in the West. It is in the interests of many countries, including Sweden, to ensure freedom of navigation, which is essential for functioning global trade. We are therefore participating in the format involving approximately 30 countries that was initiated by the United Kingdom to discuss the necessary conditions to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Sweden is ready to support these efforts as appropriate, including political solutions.

O Governo português saúda o acordo de cessar-fogo e de abertura do estreito de Ormuz alcançado pelos Estados Unidos e Irão. Portugal agradece a mediação do Paquistão e, bem assim, os esforços de todos os seus parceiros nas negociações. Este é um primeiro passo determinante para um solução diplomática duradoura e sustentável do conflito. Portugal apoiou e apoia com todo o empenho este caminho diplomático, como deixou claro nos contactos dos dois últimos dias com os Ministros dos Negócios Estrangeiros do Paquistão e do Egito.

Välkommet att USA och Iran efter viktiga medlingsinsatser av bland annat Pakistan har kommit överens om två veckors ömsesidig vapenvila, vilket också kan skapa förutsättningar för att återupprätta fri passage genom Hormuzsundet. Det är avgörande att alla parter nu visar största möjliga återhållsamhet – för att värna säkerheten i regionen, för att säkra livsviktiga globala leveranskedjor och för att skydda oskyldiga civila. Det är också viktigt att nu kunna bygga vidare på detta mot en långsiktigt hållbar lösning, som förhindrar Iran från att utveckla kärnvapen, hota säkerheten i regionen och utföra destabiliserande aktiviteter i närområdet och i väst. Det ligger i många länders intresse, inklusive Sveriges, att säkerställa fri sjöfart, som är grundläggande för en fungerande världshandel. Vi deltar därför i det format med ett 30-tal länder som initierades av Storbritannien för att diskutera förutsättningar för att återöppna Hormuzsundet. Sverige är berett att bidra till detta på lämpligt sätt, inklusive till politiska lösningar.

I welcome the ceasefire agreement reached overnight, which will bring a moment of relief to the region and the world. Together with our partners we must do all we can to support and sustain this ceasefire, turn it into a lasting agreement and re-open the Strait of Hormuz.

I welcome the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States. This gives diplomacy a chance, at a moment when the world stood on the brink of a dangerous escalation. I commend Pakistan, working with Türkiye & Egypt, for their tireless efforts for dialogue.

I welcome the two-week ceasefire agreed by the United States and Iran last night. We thank Pakistan for its mediation. The aim now is to negotiate a lasting end to the war. We are in close coordination with our partners on this matter.

We welcome the agreement between President Trump and the Iranian regime to unblock the Hormuz strait and cease fire, as well as Pakistan’s mediation efforts. American decisiveness works. We believe it is time for sufficient decisiveness to force Moscow to cease fire and end its war against Ukraine.
