JUST IN: A Paris court has upheld the embezzlement conviction of Marine Le Pen. The French nationalist leader will not be banned outright from running for office in 2027. Instead, the court modified her sentence to allow her to potentially run for national office in 2027 with an ankle monitoring bracelet. Le Pen has rejected the terms of the court sentence. She had previously faced up to four years in prison (two suspended, two under house arrest with an electronic tag), and a €100,000 fine, along with an immediate five-year ban from holding public office. The ban was reduced down to 45 months, two-thirds of those months suspended. It also cut her prison time down from four years to three years; two prison years are suspended. The remaining year in prison is under house arrest. Le Pen has blasted the embezzlement conviction as part of a "witch hunt."

Three years after Turkey joined NATO, the Turkish government orchestrated a violent, state-sponsored pogrom targeting Istanbul’s Greek, Armenian, and Jewish minority populations in 1955.
