Cluely—you should read their manifesto, linked below —is a grotesque distortion of what technology is supposed to enable. It doesn’t celebrate innovation. It glamorizes laziness, intellectual theft, and a nihilistic worldview that mistakes shortcuts for success. 1. A Manifesto for Mediocrity “We want to cheat on everything.” This is not a bold vision. It’s a surrender. Rather than using technology to elevate human capability, Cluely tells you to stop trying altogether. It weaponizes defeatism—don’t strive, don’t learn, don’t build—just “win” by outsourcing your mind to a machine. It’s not ambition; it’s an abdication of responsibility. 2. Intellectual Cowardice as a Brand “Feeds you answers in real time. While others guess – you’re already right.” This pretends to be about performance, but it’s built on fear. Fear of being wrong. Fear of thinking. Fear of wrestling with hard problems. The tool is marketed not as a partner in exploration, but as a crutch to avoid effort. And they have the gall to compare it to a calculator or spellcheck—tools that assist thinking, not replace it. 3. Rebranding Cheating as “Leverage” “The future won’t reward effort. What a day. Searched for and found wife's family in ancestral village in mountains of Croatia. Drove 2.5 hrs up and asked random woman on road about the two family names. She said to ask this other guy, who told us yep they're still around. Then found group of guys drinking beer at the town store. Showed them family pictures in that village from 50 years ago. One guy pulls out phone. We hear him say, You're old and i figured you'd know who they were talking about. Guy on other end say drive up the mountain, so we do. Turns out to be wife's cousin! They welcome us in and pour šljivovica. We give them jam and liqueur from the apple tree the ancestors planted when they came to MN from this village and the woman starts to cry. She tells us she made a lot of food today in the hopes someone would come to visit. And we did. She put out a pot of cabbage/saurkraut, a plate of cold roast pork, homemade bread and boiled potatoes and beer. And then coffee. They looked at all the pictures of rhe village from 50 years ago and knew who everyone was and remembered wife's priest uncle. They have a lovely but very steep hillside farm they've worked their whole life. Lived a happy slow life never wanting for anything. Chickens and sheep and plums and vegetables. They say they lived their lives digging. Can't imagine anything different. This is why we came here. This is why we travel. Today was a gift from God.

The ride to orbit was much smoother than I had anticipated. Apart from the final minute before SECO, I barely felt any G-forces—it honestly felt like just another flight. I had imagined it would feel like being in an elevator that suddenly drops, but that sensation never came. If I hadn’t set free Tyler, the polar bear zero-gravity indicator, I might not have realized we were already weightless. I think being tightly strapped into our seat buckets made the transition less noticeable. The first few hours in microgravity weren’t exactly comfortable. Space motion sickness hit all of us—we felt nauseous and ended up vomiting a couple of times. It felt different from motion sickness in a car or at sea. You could still read on your iPad without making it worse. But even a small sip of water could upset your stomach and trigger vomiting. Rabea spent some time on the ham radio, making contact with Berlin. No one asked opening the cupola on the first day—we were all focused on managing the motion sickness. We had a movie night watching our own launch and went to sleep a bit earlier than scheduled. We all slept really well. By the second morning, I felt completely refreshed. The trace of motion sickness is all gone. We had breakfast, took a few X-ray images, and opened the cupola three minutes after midnight UTC—right above the South Pole. Stay tuned.
