TODAY I CONDUCTED A MASS BURIAL FOR 22 CHRISTIANS KILLED IN KAWEL COMMUNITY, BOKKOS LGA Today was one of the most painful days of my life. With tears in my eyes, I stood before twenty-two graves in Kawel Community, Mushere District of Bokkos LGA, Plateau State, where I conducted the mass burial of twenty-two Christians killed during the tragic attack of June 21, 2026. Just days ago, they were with their families—sharing meals, laughing, praying, and looking forward to tomorrow. Today, their loved ones laid them to rest. I watched mothers mourn their children, children cry for parents who will never return, wives weep for their husbands, and elderly parents bury sons and daughters they hoped would one day bury them. One child asked, “Who will take care of me now?” Another cried, “Why did they take my father away?” These twenty-two lives were not numbers. They were fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters—people created in the image of God, loved by their families, and full of dreams. As the graves were covered with earth, one question echoed in my heart: How many more innocent lives must be lost before peace comes to our land? To those in authority, I ask: Do these lives matter? Do these grieving families matter? How many more communities must endure such pain before lasting protection is provided? Yet even in our sorrow, we hold on to God’s promise: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 To every widow, orphan, and grieving family, may God comfort and strengthen you. Tonight, many homes will be silent, many chairs empty, and many hearts broken. May the souls of these twenty-two Christians rest in perfect peace. May their memory never be forgotten. And may God bring lasting peace to Plateau State and comfort to every family left behind. Amen.

SOWORE BEING SENT TO PRISON: A DANGEROUS REGRESSION FOR OUR DEMOCRACY I have received, with deep concern, the news of the court’s remand of citizen activist Omoyele Sowore in Kuje Prison. While the judiciary remains the ultimate arbiter of justice, we must consistently guard against any trend that gives the appearance of state institutions being weaponised to systematically stifle dissent, muzzle the press, or shrink the legitimate space for civic engagement in Nigeria. A thriving democracy does not survive on the silencing of opposing voices; rather, it is anchored on the robust protection of fundamental human rights, most notably the freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly, as enshrined in our Constitution. Moreover, our society is already strained by insecurity and biting economic hardship; therefore, deliberate steps should be taken, even by the courts, to avoid inflaming the situation. When we begin to treat citizen critics, activists, and journalists as threats to state survival rather than as partners in building accountability, we signal a dangerous slide toward authoritarianism. Our current challenges, ranging from economic strain to internal security vulnerabilities, require inclusive dialogue and cohesive nation-building, not the incarceration of those who demand a better society. I urge the relevant authorities to ensure that the rule of law is strictly adhered to, that Mr. Sowore’s constitutional rights are fully protected, and that our security and judicial institutions are used solely for the impartial administration of justice. The funny guy from my local government who runs EDO APC as chairman went to Ekiti. The disgraceful INEC under Amupitan gave him “an observer jacket” after surreptitiously accrediting him as same. The unintelligent guy, in a bid to boast took pictures and uploaded same on his social media. Then came the backlash against him and the disgraced INEC under Amupitan. The “not so” intelligent gentleman has now gone on national TV to say the picture is AI. If Nigerians do not expel the APC, the APC will expel Nigerians.
