The entire event yesterday, launching missions, landers, rovers, tech demos building a Moon Base, and sci-fi capabilities like MoonFall, brought to you by those who Dare Mighty Things. Just the very beginning. What a time 🇺🇸
Four JPL-built propulsive drones – known as MoonFall – will survey the lunar surface at potential @NASAArtemis landing sites in unprecedented detail. The mission is part of the initial phase of the @NASAMoonBase initiative.

Said much of the same last week, but this is for the most part true, and most people don’t realize this (It marginally depends on what state). Definitely true in CA. Before everyone says, well it’s only income tax or the rich take a larger share, please see this graph: wid.world/document/why-i…
Yes, the United States has the most progressive tax system in the world. The top 1% pay 40% of taxes, the bottom 50% pay 3% of taxes. We can make it even more progressive by zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. It’s a small amount of the total tax revenue but very meaningful to
NASA just officially unveiled their master plan for a permanent Moon Base at the lunar South Pole
This is not just about flags and footprints. NASA is moving to establish an enduring, sustained human presence, and they are heavily relying on commercial innovators to build it
The roadmap is highly aggressive:
• Phase 1: Heavy robotic missions and commercial payload deliveries
• Phase 2: Semi-permanent infrastructure, including fission surface power and lunar drones
• Phase 3: A sustained, permanent human outpost
The most important takeaway is NASA explicitly stated this base is the ultimate proving ground to prepare humanity for missions to Mars
While legacy aerospace companies are still struggling to reliably get a small capsule to the ISS, NASA is setting the stage for massive lunar infrastructure....which is exactly the kind of heavy-lift planetary deployment SpaceX’s Starship was designed for
The multi-planetary economy is officially kicking off
Lunar Permanence is only possible with recurring access to the Moon, and it starts this year. Proud to support @NASAMoonBase at the lunar South Pole with our Blue Moon MK1 vehicles delivering high-cadence, low-cost access—MK1-101 Endurance (Moon Base 1), followed by MK1-102 VIPER, and two additional MK1 missions supporting Lunar Terrain Vehicles (LTVs).
@NASAMoonBase@BlueOrigin@NASAAdmin@astrobotic “Congratulations @BlueOrigin and we are looking forward to this partnership to deliver the first lunar terrain vehicle (LTV) as part of @NASAMoonBase program.”
Moon Base program executive Carlos García-Galán congratulates the recipient of the LTV delivery award.
The near impossible is becoming possible.
We are building toward a sustained human presence at the lunar South Pole. It begins with Phase 1: CLPS landers and LTV rovers testing the “science of survival” on the lunar surface before heavy HLS cargo landers deliver the mass and infrastructure needed for an enduring presence.
We are building the Moon Base for all we will learn, the innovation that will improve life on Earth, the inspiration for the next generation of explorers, and to master the skills needed for where we will inevitably go next...Mars.
The Golden Age of lunar exploration has begun.
Right after a close pass by Jupiter on November 3, 2019, NASA's Juno spacecraft recorded this striking image of the southern hemisphere as it accelerated away from the planet.

The prints have started coming out and they look SOOOOO good.
My favorite part of this process (besides seeing the launch of course) is the first time I see it in print. So much better than seeing it on a screen.
Still available in my bio for one more day fyi
Behold the “space cake.” Making cakes on the @Space_Station with our rather limited “baking” supplies is an art, requiring creativity and resourcefulness. I loved making cakes for my crewmates on my first mission and considered myself adept, but our cosmonaut colleagues on Expedition 74 have certainly taken it to the next level. Here’s an example of their recent work, in celebration of 100 days in space for @astro_hathaway and @Soph_astro, and my 300th day. It tasted even better than it looked!
Today in 1977, #StarWars took us to a galaxy far, far away for the first time when the first film in the series was released, becoming one of the biggest box office hits of all time: s.si.edu/3y387pg

Enceladus (a moon of Saturn) is just 1/50,000th the mass of Earth but thanks to an accessible underground water ocean, active chemistry, and loads of energy it may be one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in the entire solar system!
