P.S. - Dear trans activists, please stop pretending that you think "preferences are fine but transphobia is not". It's tired and we see through it. The simple fact that you view my homosexuality as a mere "preference" is homophobic AF and beyond that - you just don't mean it. You can chop it up however you like but what you want is to normalise gay men being coerced into having heterosexual sex. This is the absoute worst description I've ever heard, just an enourmous fucking lie about what Woke was (and remains today). Woke was not some cutesy do-gooders who just "went too far" trying to do the right thing. Woke was something much more sinister. There are definitely a few models of Woke that make sense; First and foremost, it was a very sinister, very authoritatian attempt at forcing political RightThink using social/financial/governmental pressure and weaponized identity politics. The foundation of the ideology was by filtering every person, every moment in time, and every interaction, through the lens of a binary Oppressor/Oppressed worldview, categorizing all humans based on their superficial identity traits, and then creating a "Hierarchy of Oppression" where each idenitity was ranked by how "oppressed" they were. Anytime there was a conflict in the rights of two groups (say, womens rights vs trans ppls demands) all that one needed to do was calculate the Hierarchy of Oppression, and whoever sat higher, "won". So in the HoO, "Trans" sits higher than "women". So anytime the demands of the Trans community (such as giving men who identified as Trans access to womens spaces and sports) infringed on womens rights to their own spaces free of men, the Wokes would choose the demands of the Trans over the rights of the women. All of those models of Woke are correct. But I think the most important model of what Woke really was (and remains) is an attempt to destroy the old Social Value system and create a new Identity based one. It used to be that the "Social Value" of a person in their community was, in large part, decided by things that mattered; their character, their ethics, their behavior, and their honor. "Woke" is an attempt to destroy that system and create one where the primary social value of a person is their identity. Their behavior is irrelevent. Their character is irrelevent. All that matters is their identity: their race,sex, ethnicity, religion or sexual preference. THATS how social value is determined. If your identity is one that sits high on the "Hierarcy of Oppression" (Trans and illegal migrants are at the top) then you have social value, if you have an identity that sits low, you do not. In neither case does your character matter. A perfect example of this in the real world is the way the Wokes treated George Floyd vs Daniel Penny. They made a Saint out of George Floyd - with statues, memorials, vigils - despite him being a genuinely garbage person with long history of criminality, but demonized Daniel Penny - with character assasination by the media and criminal prosecution by NYC - despite him being a genuine hero who showed high character and a sense of duty. Why? Bexause the lifelong criminal Floyd had the right identity, and the Hero Penny had the wrong one. They had to destroy Penny BECAUSE he showed character and heroic behavior. Thats the worst kind of crime in a Woke-dominant culture (such as NYC politics), is to do something heroic and honorable. Meanwhile actual criminals get statues and murals, because the best way the revolutionaries can highlight the new primacy of "identity" over "character" as the ultimate indicators of social value is to make heros out of criminals with the right identity and criminals out of heros with the wrong one. So when ppl trying to whitewash Woke as "just some overzealous do-gooders trying to make the world a better plave and going too far" dont allow it. Unless there is a broad understanding about what Woke really is/was, we will be doomed to repeat it. No society could exist as Free and Just if existed as it does in the Woke ideal.

When I first joined a trans support group it was a small number of people. Pretty much everyone clearly fit into one of two categories - severe dysphoria about their sex or sexually motivated in the case of some of the males. Once I got to my early 20s I joined another and it was almost entirely populated by 'non-binary' people who had no dysphoria and appeared entirely typical for their sex. I no longer bother because the overwhelming majority of 'trans people' today are either sexual fetishists or queer non-binaries. I don't think there is anything in common between that and the severe mental condition I suffered from. I find I have far more community with same sex attracted and gender non conforming women. I don't intend to detransition because I still have dysphoria but I don't think I'm something other than a medicalised woman anymore.
