Trump announced up to 300,000 metric tons of ground beef imports over 90 days at 25% below market price with no out-of-quota tariffs. McDonald’s US alone bought ~324,000 metric tons of beef in 2023 (~80,000 in 90 days). Wendy’s system uses ~110,000–130,000 metric tons yearly (~30,000 in 90 days). Burger King sales and units are comparable to Wendy’s, so similar volume. Collectively the three use roughly 130,000–150,000 metric tons of beef (mostly for patties) in 90 days—less than the import volume. Imported lean trim often goes to foodservice grinding rather than retail cases. The move could ease costs for chains facing high prices, but is framed as temporary consumer relief while the herd rebuilds.

Ye, I know this is the Hormuz Letter. However I believe this is actually a possible scenario if we were to send troops into Iran, and the fact is that has been a legitimately floated idea by many on both sides of the aisle.
