It's been this way for as long as I can remember. My father writes software for automotive companies and has been his entire life. I can't tell you how many times he had a contract abruptly end because the work got outsourced, leaving him (and us) with no family income or health insurance, usually right around the holidays. There were numerous times he took a job in a different state to keep things going for us. Drive to Indiana Monday morning, drive back home late Friday night. One year, he did the same in Tennessee and we hardly saw him. Anybody who tells you this is "necessary" is either fooling themselves, or trying to fool you. It's the McKinsey business model: outsource everything you possibly can to someplace you can get it cheaper so long as it drives the corporate bottom line, and use that money to lobby Congress for more tax incentives to continue the plan.

When manufacturing was outsourced the Rust Belt became completely ravaged with opiate addiction. Dads lost their jobs, many families lost their homes, and communities lost hope. Add mass immigration to the mix and you have drugs flowing freely across our border and cheap labor taking up the little work available to the non-college educated. That cheap labor will work way longer for way less, driving down wages and making it impossible to have and raise a family on a single income. The solution to America’s problems do not boil down a matter of not having enough workers, or needing to import more H1B visa workers. The solution is a 10 year immigration moratorium, bring manufacturing back to the U.S. , and hire American. That is how you restore America to greatness.
