Thames Water is a joke. But it’s a joke at our expense. 🤡 A blatant cash grab, from a company on the brink of bankruptcy and drowning in its own debt.📉 Govt must take Thames into full permanent public ownership before they do more damage to our wallets and the environment.

Ofwat are utterly, utterly hopeless day 13,101. In early 2024 it was revealed that @thameswater was defaulting on their legal commitments to invest in the environment by £1,134,000,000. A total of 105 projects would not be delivered. At the time I asked, what's happened the money, where's it gone. x.com/Feargal_Sharke… The @guardian got to the bottom of it all in Dec last year, Thames had diverted the money to help, amongst other things, pay executive bonuses. During the secret internal meetings TW management had even discussed "The risk of a public and regulatory backlash if it emerged that cash set aside for work such as cutting river pollution had been spent elsewhere".
