.@benchmark co-lead the initial round for Cerebras 10 years ago. Over the following 5 years, the team amazed, delivering the technological marvel of a wafer-scale chip, the system to heat and cool it, and more recently the software layer that allows giant fleets of Cerebras systems to work together for very large MoE models. But even more impressive, is they just never fucking quit, despite kissing death like 3 times, getting made fun of for unusual early customers, and getting passed over by virtually every respected semi investor (who have all converted now). The team knew, IF they could stay alive, it was just a matter of time…. In tech, speed ultimately wins, and nothing is close to as fast as Cerebras.

I've said this a couple of times already but I'm not a fan of the whole ownership coins narrative and how founder-unfriendly the current frameworks are. I think we are drifting towards a place where "OWNERSHIP or SCAM" will be the consensus mindset crypto-founders will be exposed to. "If you're not choosing an ownership framework you're scamming investors". This is a productive stance to eventually take, but the current ownership structures just are so founder-unfriendly, that most talented founders will just chose against tokenising ever because they don't want to give up control or fundraising flexibility in the future. Right now as a crypto founder you stand in front of a heavy decision: (01) Lose control over your startup post-tokenisation (02) Load your companies books with senior debt (03) Do a Rainbow or ERC-S style structure yourself I've had multiple conversations with founders in the last months which we rejected for Street, not because they are "bad startups", but just because our clients are usually Web2 startups and we can't onboard them through Street and every rejection felt especially awful knowing the structure we provide is the only productive structure out there which is not a) removing all control or b) killing their future fundraising flexibility. I applaud @RainbowFND & @mikedemarais for doing essentially a ERC-S style structure without Street & I think more crypto projects should take a look at what Rainbow is doing and replicate it, if we reject them. One VC asked me: What stops people from doing ERC-S themselves without involving Street. My answer was: Nothing, actually we open sourced ERC-S with all the legal files to encourage that to happen. When Y Combinator invented the YC SAFE, they didn't gatekeep it only for themselves, that would be incredibly unproductive. ERC-S isn't a moat we have, neither should we gate keep it. Obviously going through us is legally more secure because we take on a looot of legal risk for you via indemnification agreement, we pay for the legal bills, we structure it for you, we stand with our brand up for you, we connect you to VCs, angels, other projects building on Street & guide and advice you daily. We give you customized software solutions & intro you to anyone you need and invite you to all the IRL workshops we do. But none of these mean it's not possible to do a Rainbow-like structure without us. (Just don't call it ERC-S). To make this possible for crypto-native founders we are releasing a side-letter next week which allows you to raise through equity + token warrants while still having the optionality to go for a Rainbow like structure later. Please don't kill your business just to call yourself an ownership coin.

Looks like a decent 3D breakout and retest now on Bitcoin. We likely consolidate for a while here now before the next leg up to have a crack at the Weekly MA50 at $101.5k. Mainly interested in strong alts like $PENGU and $XMR that are looking seriously bullish. The Russel 2000 Index continues to hit new ATHs daily which is our bell-weather for future alt outperformance. Ignore the naysayers and doom-mongers. Time to lock in.

The L2 bloodbath. 50+ Layer 2s launched. Three survived. Base, Arbitrum, and Optimism now process 90% of all L2 transactions. Base alone holds 46% of L2 DeFi value, and it was the only rollup that actually made money in 2025. The others? Ghost chains. Airdrop farmers left. Real users never showed up. Usage on smaller L2s dropped 61% once the free money stopped. Lesson learned: Coinbase's 100 million users beat any technical advantage. Distribution eats innovation for breakfast. The data layer war. Posting transaction data to Ethereum costs $3.83 per megabyte. Celestia charges $0.07. That's 55x cheaper. No wonder 80% of new rollups chose alternative data layers by year's end. @eigen_da took a different approach, $8 billion in restaked ETH backing their service, borrowing Ethereum's security instead of building from scratch. Rollups now shop for data availability like startups shop for cloud providers. AWS vs. Google Cloud, but for blockchain storage. Ethereum's counterpunch. The Fusaka upgrade landed in December. New trick: validators sample random pieces of data instead of downloading everything. Same security, fraction of the bandwidth. Blob capacity is already climbing. Six per block now. Fourteen by January. The target is 128, enough to make Ethereum's native data layer competitive again. The message is clear: Ethereum won't cede infrastructure to competitors without a fight. The bridge problem nobody solved. $2.3 billion lost to bridge hacks since 2021. Moving tokens between L2s still feels like crossing a minefield. New solutions are emerging. @Optimism Superchain connects OP-based chains natively. Based rollups let Ethereum validators handle ordering across multiple networks. Shared sequencers promise atomic transactions between completely separate rollups. The goal: make bridging invisible. Use @arbitrum DeFi with @Optimism liquidity without thinking about it. We're not there yet. But the architecture is taking shape. The real question for 2026: The tech works. ZK proving is fast. Modular infrastructure is cheap. L2s handle millions of transactions daily. Now it's about money. Ethereum thinks L2s will pay for security and data forever. L2s think they can commoditize Ethereum into a dumb settlement layer. Data providers think everyone needs them more than Ethereum blobs. They can't all be right. The infrastructure wars aren't about building anymore. The building is done. They're about who owns the toll booths. That's a wrap!
