The government is banning abusive conversion practices in England and Wales to protect LGBT+ people from harm.
Watch Minister for Equalities, @oliviabaileymp announce the publication of draft laws in Parliament.
I’m really pleased that a draft Bill to ban conversion practices for LGBTQ+ people has been published today. I made sure it was in our first Kings Speech and I’m glad we are keeping this important commitment to equality and to protect people from abuse.
I’m proud of everything I’ve achieved alongside @AndyBurnhamGM to deliver for our region.
I’m standing because I want to go further.
To build on what we’ve done and do more.
To take GM forwards. For us.
Just last week we wore white roses to remember our dear Jo, killed whilst undertaking duties as an MP. My constituency is where Sir David Amess went to school, also killed undertaking his duties as MP. Both their families robbed of their loved ones.
Their killers were radicalised and filled with hatred towards elected officials.
The dehumanisation of people who put themselves forward to serve in elected office is accelerating at an alarming pace.
Kemi should be ashamed for acting as chief cheerleader.
I’ll fight to make sure everyone shares in the success Greater Manchester is building - making sure there’s more money in people's pockets, pride in every town centre with a New High Streets Fund, a new generation of council and affordable homes and an expanded Bee Network that freezes fares and that works for all of us. 🐝 🌹
Congratulations to @bevcraig who will be a fantastic Mayor of Greater Manchester.
I’ve seen first hand how she’s transformed outcomes for children and people across the city region. She’s a change maker and a leader and I look forward to hitting the campaign trail with her soon
Makerfield result:
A swing back to governing party in a by-election is exceptional.
Winning absolute majority of vote in a seat with Reform friendly demographics is exceptional.
Doing both on increased turnout when yr party is polling under 20% is truly exceptional
What a fantastic result. After such difficult results in May, it’s great to win again and show how, and that we can, beat Reform in communities like Makerfield.
There’s much to digest. A huge thank you to @AndyBurnhamGM his team led by Louise Haigh & @anneliese_midge , Labour staff, all have been amazing, and to our entire movement who came together and showed the best of us.
Exc: Nigel Farage's Reform is pocketing a fortune from people or companies linked to offshore tax havens, new analysis reveals. Of the £18.6million donated to the party last year, some £15m came from those with offshore links.

It's more than a new look. We're making big changes.
In the first 100 days of nationalisation passengers in the south east will see more services, fewer delays and cleaner carriages.
Under this government our trains serve passengers, not shareholders.
