India has spent seventy years building an automotive industry without building the one thing that makes an automotive industry sovereign.. the ability to modify its own vehicles. India's automotive electronics market is $11–13 billion annually. Nearly all of it leaves the country. Without an indigenous ECU industry, every adjacent ambition... domestic semiconductors, software-defined vehicles, autonomous systems, has no anchor. A chip fab without a domestic ECU customer is a contract manufacturer. A software-defined vehicle strategy without ownership of the software is a branding exercise.
