Elder Clark G. Gilbert (@ClarkG_Gilbert) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will dedicate the Cody Wyoming Temple on Sunday, October 25, 2026. The dedication will be at 10 a.m. (rebroadcast at 2 p.m.) and will be broadcast to congregations in the temple district. In the weeks leading up to the dedication, the public is invited to tour the temple. The open house will begin with a media day on Monday, August 24, 2026. As multiple wildfires continue to burn across Spokane County and surrounding communities in eastern Washington, USA, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are opening their homes, assisting with evacuations and providing support to those affected. “Local Church leaders are working closely together with Church headquarters to identify needs and provide both temporal and spiritual support,” the Church’s United States West Area Presidency said in a statement. “The Church has designated emergency response funds, and throughout the Inland Northwest, stakes are supporting trusted community organizations and nonprofits that are providing shelter, food and essential supplies.” Meetinghouses throughout the Church’s Spokane Coordinating Council are helping members displaced by the fires. Local leaders continue coordinating temporary housing, meals, pastoral care and other assistance as needs arise. The Church is also sending three semitrucks of relief supplies to Spokane, one carrying water and two carrying food. Just to be clear: this was one of the coolest moments I’ve ever experienced. 😎 Stepping out of that truck in “Sacred Emotion” with my sunglasses on was awesome. 😂 Not many people know this, but “Sacred Emotion” was the hit that followed “Soldier of Love.” When VH1 started playing the video, they referred to it as the “Calvin Klein model” video. 😁 This was such a joy to film, and I’m incredibly grateful that so many of you still enjoy this song after all these years. 💜

Recently, I participated in the delicate and lengthy process of removing my mother’s mortal remains from my grandparents’ family gravesite to make room for other family members in the future. It was a tender experience, one that brought back many memories and reminded me that, although death separates us physically for a time, the influence of a righteous life remains, and the promise of the Resurrection brings hope. My mother was a wonderful example to me of what it means to be a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. She passed away two days before her 94th birthday, just two months before my call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 2018. As I reflected on her life during this unusual and sacred experience, I felt renewed gratitude for her faith, her goodness, and the lasting legacy she left to our family. Until the end of her life, she remained remarkably healthy, mentally alert, active, and deeply devoted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. She often expressed her belief that many of the blessings she enjoyed throughout her life were connected to her conversion to the gospel and to the way she sought to live its teachings. Although this tender experience reminded me of the sorrow of temporary separation caused by death, it also strengthened my testimony of the glorious reality of the Resurrection. I know that, through Jesus Christ, my mother’s mortal remains will one day be reunited with her spirit in a perfected and immortal body. Because of the Savior’s victory over death, the gift of resurrection is extended to every person. I testify that the Resurrection is real and that eternal life is made possible through Jesus Christ as we exercise faith in Him, repent, make and keep sacred covenants with Him, and faithfully follow Him.

Time Together as Family: Despite all the demands tied to my new calling, preserving time to be a husband and a father remains an absolutely important part of my life. As Christine and I gear up for what will be a very busy fall schedule, we're so grateful we had time together with our family this summer. I love what President Henry B. Eyring’s taught during a BYU speech titled “Child of Promise.” It has helped guide my thinking for our stewardship of family, Church callings, and professional responsibilities. “Time passes at a fixed rate and we can’t store it. You can just decide what to do with it or not to do with it. . . . Time is the property we inherit from God, along with the power to choose what we will do with it.”
