BREAKING: The Republican-controlled Supreme Court rejects Special Counsel Jack Smith's request to expedite arguments on whether or not Donald Trump has "presidential immunity" for crimes committed in office — making it clear that the court is tainted by MAGA. This is an absolute disgrace... The court's decision will likely delay Trump's criminal trial, which is exactly what the ex-president wants and precisely what Smith was hoping to avoid. Smith wanted to skip a federal appeals court and have the Supreme Court rule directly and immediately on whether or not Trump's immunity claims have validity. Trump's claims are patently absurd of course, because if Trump did have "presidential immunity" it would mean that presidents are literally above the law. It would mean we have kings in this country, not presidents. Now that the Supreme Court has refused to do its duty for our Republic, both Smith and Trump will have the option of appealing an eventual ruling by the DC Circuit Court of Appeals to the Supreme Court. This is, in every sense, a major victory for Trump and his growing fascist movement. It's clear that the Supreme Court is not interested in saving democracy. The responsibility falls to all of us.
