In 1891 — decades before Herzl and modern political Zionism — America’s most powerful elites begged President Benjamin Harrison to give “Palestine” back to the Jews. Chief Justice Melville Fuller, Congressman (and future President) William McKinley, J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, university presidents, and hundreds of leading Americans all signed the Blackstone Memorial. They declared the land — then called “Palestine” by Western Christians — to be “an inalienable possession” of the Jewish people, “from which they were expelled by force.” Drafted by Christian evangelist William Blackstone in response to the brutal Russian pogroms, the petition called on the great powers to follow the 1878 Treaty of Berlin: restore the land to its rightful owners, just as they had done for Bulgaria and Serbia. This was mainstream American elite opinion — long before the modern State of Israel was even a dream. The Jewish return to their ancestral homeland was once understood as simple historic justice.

Darializa Avila Chevalier, who won the 13th district in the NY Democratic primary, is near-perfect expression of a certain radical-left political archetype. She’s advocated for the complete abolition of police, prisons, and borders. She expressed opposition to all forms of deportation, and in an interview last week would not answer the question regarding sending a man who randomly murdered another person to prison. All in all, she is the perfect typecast of the contemporary super-activist, utopian to the point of childishness, and in her proclamations mirroring the one-upmanship of the Right's manosphere, replacing outrageous views about women, blacks and Jews with outrageous views about men, whites and Jews. And that’s the point: Jews will almost inevitably occupy a central part of any extremist agenda. And while good old-fashioned antisemitism, displayed at this time by the likes of Nick Fuentes and Candace Owens, sees Jews as the conniving foreigner contaminating “the people“ and illegitimately amassing funds or power, the new antisemitism from the Radical Left sees Jews not as an alien element attempting to infiltrate home, but as the West’s ancestral authors, the progenitors of the civilization now condemned as colonial, liberal, capitalist, white. Here are the dots to be connected: when you hear an activist such as Chevalier defining the US as occupying Native American lands, when an organization she co-founded - CUAD (Columbia University Apartheid Divest) – puts out, in September of 2024 and along with other student bodies, a statement that states an intention “to undermine and eradicate America as we know it” and to bring about “a total collapse of… American empire itself” --- you can be sure that those same voices will focus on Israel as the ultimate source and paramount evil of their concerns. Chevalier attended a rally that celebrated the October 7th Hamas massacre in Israel a day after the attack, and in the past local progressive political groups, such as the Broadway Democrats, declined to endorse her after she reportedly refused to condemn Hamas atrocities. “I have been advocating for the human rights of Palestinians for my adult life,” says Chevalier, and that’s fair enough. Supporting human rights is admirable and criticizing Israel for suppressing them is of course legitimate. But one may still ask why Palestine far more than Sudan, the Uyghurs, Yemen, Iran or Afghanistan. How is it that it alone becomes the supreme moral test? The answer is that Palestinian suffering can be mapped onto the anti-Western worldview in a way those other tragedies cannot. Antizionism of this kind is fed by occidentalism, a venomous animosity towards the civilization that gave her the political ascent rarely available in the worlds it romanticizes.

There is absolutely zero evidence for this. Literally zero. The story is completely preposterous.

Israel withdrew every soldier & Jewish civilian from Gaza in 2005. The idea that “nothing was allowed in or out” is simply false. Hundreds of trucks carrying food, medicine, fuel, construction materials & consumer goods entered Gaza every week for years. Tens of thousands of Gazans worked in Israel. The restrictions that did exist were mainly on dual-use materials (cement, steel pipes, fertilizers, etc.) that Hamas systematically diverted to build attack tunnels and rockets. The tighter blockade was imposed in 2007 — after Hamas violently seized total control of Gaza from the Palestinian Authority and began firing thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians. Egypt also controlled its own border with Gaza.

11 days after Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza (Sept 23, 2005): Hamas held a weapons parade that ended in a massive accidental explosion, killing ~20 people (including children). Hours later, they fired dozens of rockets at the Israeli town of Sderot. This was their immediate “thank you” for unilateral disengagement.
