A twisted (asymmetrical) profile is a unique design of the leading edge of a rudder. The leading edge is aligned to the propeller slipstream, accounting for varying inflow angles. Numerical simulations and tank tests have shown savings up to 3,5%, depending on the configuration.

MS Pride of Kent has been equipped with our flap rudders since 1991 and has actively been using the rudders since new build, navigating back and forth between Dover and Calais. Recently she was in dock for maintenance, where the excellent condition of the rudders was confirmed.

Vertom Patty is the first out of a series of six Dry Cargo vessels that was recently launched. The successful event took place at Thecla Bodewes Shipyards, where the series is currently being built for Vertom Group. We will deliver a complete steering system for all six vessels.

The rudder of this vessel was inspected by carrying out multiple clearance measurements. The rudder blade was in excellent condition, only the flap tiller was overhauled as a precaution to ensure the performance of the rudder for many more years. Happy shipping!🚢 #marine #cargo

This ice-class ferry (200 x 27 m) was recently put in dry dock for her 5-year inspection. As she is equipped with our flap rudders, we did a check-up on the rudders. We dismounted the starboard rudder and successfully performed a complete overhaul. Safe journeys!👋
