🚨 IF YOU SEE SMOKE, FLY AWAY! When you see wildfire smoke, CAL FIRE and partner aircraft are likely working that fire — dropping retardant, coordinating suppression, and saving lives. Entering that airspace puts everyone at risk. Flying into active wildfire airspace is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) violation, and it could ground the aircraft protecting your communities. Big Bear’s beloved bald eagle couple, Jackie and Shadow, are officially empty nesters after their eaglet, Luna, took flight for the first time Monday, flying to a nearby tree where Dad was proudly waiting. On Sunday, Luna’s sibling, Sandy, accidentally fledged after falling from the nest. Friends of Big Bear Valley said Sandy appeared to be on another branch below, outside of camera view.

A bumblebee approaches a vibrant lavender blossom in my front yard. 🐝🪻 Our weather pattern is transitioning from "June Gloom" to "No-Sky July," with marine clouds lingering at night and in the morning before giving way to increasing afternoon clearing. 😶🌫️ One fly in the ointment is the possibility of localized Santa Lucia (northeasterly/offshore) winds developing Sunday morning.
