Clayface was certainly as described by the creatives, a rollercoaster. It slowly sets the stage and rightly so for the villain. But once you're on the precipice of that drop, it's a long way down from the top for Matt Hagen with both a very entertaining unravelling of Hagen's psyche that builds on the horror elements with a good momentum. It's a sympathetic villain story that doesn't betray the melancholic evolution and necessary plunge into all out villain. Hagen arc is a great synergy of both by the culmination of the story. The plot had clear influences and creative flair from the gruesome body horror of The Fly, of course Feat of Clay, to the killings of the One Bad Day comic and beyond. It embraces the strengths of those but in turn the structure ends up feeling familiar and straightforward. Visually I feel a bit mixed. The cinematography was great, and the way the movie captures Hagen's gruesome moments really put you on edge - but the tone and visual style of Gotham felt at times both something I was excited by, and at other times like I was left wanting more distinct and with even more identity. The movie truly has such a winner with Tom Rhys Harries, he uplifts it in so many ways with his performance. It just gets more enjoyable along the way, and the nightclub sequence gets truly chaotic in the best way - You're rooting for the villainy at this point and it captured Clayface in his element so well. Naomi Ackie is really good and I enjoyed the somewhat Frankenstein's Monster dynamic that played out. The other characters beyond that felt more functional to the plot than memorable. There's so much more I can say but we'll get into that in a full review on the channel 🦇

having a hal of a time made a progression of what I think hal's suits would/should be like along his timeline with some tweaks to the 2016 fit

The day when people were asking Zack Snyder if scenes from Josstice League were in his Cut😭

Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes. 🦇

Soderbergh will shoot the movie in London and Reeves will become more hands on once the movie returns to LA for post-production. Shooting is said to be about 2/3 completed at this point.

Matt Reeves says he and Mike Flanagan were developing ‘CLAYFACE’ before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios. “After THE BATMAN, I was very excited about this idea. THE BATMAN was not a Batman origin story, but what it did—because it was his first appearance in the city—it was an entree into origin stories for the Rogues’ Gallery. After the movie, when we started working on the script for the next Batman, we began thinking it’d be really exciting to develop a bunch of stories that could be genre stories that related to the Rogues’ Gallery characters and explore their origins. And one of the things I got very excited about was the idea of looking for ways to do really cool, smaller horror films. And [Screenwriter] Mike Flanagan came to me and said he had been a huge fan of Clayface—especially the iteration that came from the animated series—and had a passion about doing a horror story with Clayface at the core. So, we started developing it. And as that story started coming together, becoming this sort of tragic love story—THE FLY meets this horror thriller—James [Gunn] and Peter [Safran] took over DC Studios, and that was one of the first things we pitched to them. They loved it so much, they wanted to make it one of the DCU movies. And we got very excited about the idea of taking this story into the DCU.” (via @BatmanNewsChris | batmannews.com/2026/10/13/mat…)

Ben Affleck lost both of his parents this year. He says he learned “a great lesson” from how his mother navigated the end of her life: “One of the things you grapple with at my age when parents die is there’s a comfort and awareness in knowing this is how it’s supposed to go. When I go, it will be hard for my children, but none of us want it any other way. My mom said to me at the end of her life, ‘God, I thought 84 years would seem longer.’ And I thought, ‘I bet, because I thought 54 would seem longer.’ That’s what we get. We get this much time, and it’s a reminder not to put anything off or fix it later. It’s more about how you show up every day with everybody else.” Read the full cover story: wp.me/pc8uak-1lHTZ5

First concept art from the cancelled ‘GREEN LANTERN’ series. • Would have took place in 2 time periods - Alan Scott in 1941 and Guy Gardner in 1984 • Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Kilowog & Sinestro would’ve been in the series + a new Lantern character Bree Jarta • The Manhunters were planned to be the primary villains • Seth Grahame-Smith was set to serve as showrunner with Marc Guggenheim in the writers room (Source: screenrant.com/green-lantern-…)

My copy of RTD's Memoir arrived today; The Queerest of Folk. A few quick observations that stood out to my on his chapter about Bad Wolf/Disney 'Doctor Who'. - When Disney agreed to co-produce the show, the execs had never watched 'Doctor Who' and didn't know anything about it. They didn't even know about 'Blink'. - RTD cites as one of the biggest reasons the era didn't work (or "destroyed the profile of the show", in his words) was because of the online leaks. Needless to say, I disagree. - RTD had already written Episode 1 of 'The War Between The Land and the Sea' before the reveal of 'Legend of the Sea Devils' (January 1st 2022). Completely unrelated creatively. - RTD admits it was "a confused launch" having the new era begin with a 60th Anniversary trilogy. "I think that fucked it from the start". - Ncuti Gatwa's casting announcement before the BAFTA TV Awards was done to pre-empt a potential leak (I called this at the time!). - '73 Yards' and 'Dot and Bubble' were relatively last minute writing jobs. Due to delays filming 'Sex Education', Ncuti started 3 months later than planned so these Doctor-lite scripts were written. They were not originally in the 8-episode pitch sold to Disney and there is no mention of what the original Episode 4 and Episode 5 were. - Reflecting on his 2 Series, in particular the story of Ruby Sunday, if he has regrets or notes he doesn't mention them. He considers the run to be "magnificent". - The show's budget was significantly lower than 'His Dark Materials'. The crew had to learn "how to downscale". - There's an odd moment where he mentions "fixing problems on the spot" and then immediately talks about casting Belinda and "parking" Ruby. Was Millie Gibson considered a problem to be fixed? This is never elaborated on. - 3 Episodes of Season 3 were fully written. 1) A Great Fire of London story by Laurence Clark and Jack Thorne. 2) A Brutal NASA Space Station Story by Lydia Adetunji. 3) A "lovely" episode set in a Manchester Council Estate by Sharma Angel-Walfall. RTD wanted Juno Dawson to write another episode and was in talks with Kate Herron and Briony Redman to bring Jonathan Groff back as Rogue. "That sequel was forever getting postponed". - Season 3 would have ended with a "Dalek four-part epic". - There's no mention of 'The Reality War' reshoots. "We knew Ncuti was leaving", he claims, like it was always the plan. - Regarding the 2026 Xmas Special Press Release; "I allowed my name to go on a press release that I actually felt kind of queasy about. That'll teach me!". - "I didn't even get a contract to write the Christmas Special until the end of March 2026" (it was announced in Oct 2025). - "I'll spend a year working on this, but it'll all be leaked before it gets on air...why bother?" - According to Russell, the timeline was; Announce Xmas Special, Put The Show Out To Tender, Then Make The Special To Bridge the Gap, Fulfill The Tender. There's a lot more in the chapter (which follows a previous 214 pages of information) but those are the things that stood out to me. RTD may have his own private opinions, but in this book, it seems he has no creative regrets.

@DiscussingFilm This is what @GraceRandolph said about Matt Reeves health situation

He made the lantern for a GREEN ring. Focus: 1. Sinestro has the ability to forge lantern tech. But because fear was involved it created cracks. 2. He got dipped in the fear water and now probably will use that fear of whatever he saw, to create a complete fear driven lantern.

it definitely seemed like sinestro’s lantern should’ve been yellow especially since he talked about how fear is stronger and allat but i guess not
