Marco Rubio is a pathological liar. US have been sanctioning the country of Cuba since 1958 which constitutes the longest-running trade embargo & economic blockade in modern history. The siege was initially designed to pressure the Cuban government over communist alignment, but it is widely accepted that these massive sanctions are intended to severely impacted the Cuban economy and serve as a form of collective punishment against the population in the hopes that they will rise up and overthrow their government in favor of a new U.S.-backed regime. That been the explicit US policy for going on 70 years now.
