Coverage protects against two core DeFi risks: technical failures in code and infrastructure, and economic failures in protocol design. From direct bad debt to collateral-driven structural impairments, every claim is backed by clear triggers and verifiable on-chain evidence.
In Phase 2, every active Firelight coverage position is represented by a cover token, held by the program operator. It is not a collectible NFT but an on-chain record of a coverage position, including the beneficiary address and the full coverage state for each 30-day period.

Locking capital until the cover period ends is a standard rule in DeFi insurance protocols. Yet, Firelight is currently the only live protocol that turns staked FXRP into underwriting capital for onchain cover while also giving stakers a liquid token (stXRP).
