This is exactly what I mean when I say decisions are being made far away from the people whose lives they affect and the overreach is absurd. Think about it. A nicotine supplement? Restricted. Retinol for your skin? Restricted. Unpasteurized milk? Restricted. Alcohol? Restricted by time and place. Vax-injured? Abandoned. Hard drugs? Taxpayer-funded. Open use. Anytime! Anywhere! We are here for you! And we are told it is all in the name of the “public good.” I don’t think so. In no rational world does this make sense. Government has moved far beyond governing. It arbitrarily restricts and limits ordinary personal choices in the name of “health and safety.” This is not coherent public policy. It is contradictory, overreaching nonsense. We are living in an upside-down world where reality has been replaced by ideology, common sense is in desperately short supply and self-destruction is subsidized. It needs to end.
Feds consider rolling back Trudeau-era ban on convenience store nicotine pouch sales. A senior federal official confirms there is "openness" in government to easing existing restrictions, the National Post reports. 🧵👇 (1/6)
Explain this to me like I am five. There is a crisis. People are told they must give up fundamental civil liberties, close their businesses, sacrifice their livelihoods, and comply with extraordinary government measures “for the public good.” And most people do. But some of those people are harmed by what was asked of them. Some suffer physical injuries. Some suffer financially. If society demanded the sacrifice “for the public good,” then society does not get to abandon the people who were harmed making it. Where is the compassion? Where is the kindness? Where is the collective responsibility? If the benefit belonged to all of us, the burden also belongs to all of us. And to every elected official and person in a position of influence who continues to ignore those who were harmed, dismiss or disparage their experiences, or tell them it is time to “move on”: you have lost all credibility. Your conduct shows a complete lack of integrity, character, and moral courage. You demanded sacrifice when it was politically convenient, and now you dismiss, disparage, or ignore the people who paid the price. That is a reflection of your character, not theirs. That is not leadership. It is cowardice.
Ottawa detective demoted following probe of sudden infant deaths after COVID vaccine rollout 💉 Defence lawyer calls the decision an assault on police discretion and the rule of law, warning that its implications could shape disciplinary cases for years to come. It was judgment day for Detective Helen Grus, after a four-year investigation and disciplinary tribunal. As a diligent detective, Grus used her discretion to look into a suspicious two- to three-fold surge in sudden infant deaths in Ottawa following the rollout of the modified RNA COVID-19 vaccines. She was ultimately sentenced to a 24-month demotion that comes with a significant salary loss. From first-class to second-class Constable, hearing officer Chris Renwick found her guilty of discreditable conduct for an “unauthorized probe clouded by her personal bias about vaccine injury or reactions” and improperly accessing the police records database. At the time of the probe, Grus was a detective in the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse unit, which is mandated by law to probe sudden deaths of children under five outside hospital settings. The penalty brings a significant pay cut on top of the financial losses she has already endured through years of these proceedings, including hefty legal fees. Her lawyer, Bath-Sheba van Den Berg, said that the penalty “goes to the absurdity of the discreditable charge itself, where there were multiple elements, and many of them which are nonsensical.” Van Den Berg called the decision itself “seriously wrong,” arguing that the Ottawa Police Service had shut down a potential criminal investigation into negligence surrounding a vaccine “that we know was not safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.” She pointed to tribunal evidence of at least five babies who died in circumstances matching those listed in Pfizer’s own clinical data reports. Detective Grus herself remains unbowed. Addressing claims of a lack of responsibility or remorse, she said: “My message has remained the same. I swore an oath to protect the public, preserve life, preserve the peace. And I will continue to do that each and every day.” Van Den Berg emphasized that using lack of remorse against an officer who maintains her innocence is an error in law that dismantles fair process. “Every police officer should really be up in arms about this decision because now it’s going to be used as binding and as a leading case law for future police disciplinary processes.” Renwick’s ruling, she argued, sends a disturbing message: “He’s sending a message to all police officers. You no longer are autonomous. You no longer have discretion. And he’s sending a message to all people in this country that if there is a public safety concern that is born from the hands of the government, that there will be no accountability for the government. And fundamentally, that tells us that rule of law is dead here in Canada.” Supporters outside held signs and offered prayers. Grus thanked them, along with local, national, and international supporters: “I am blown away with all the support… Look to God… Treat each other with kindness, respect, compassion each and every day.” Grus confirmed an appeal is coming — against both the March 2025 liability decision and today’s penalty — along with an application for fresh evidence. Drawing on her background in international criminal law, van Den Berg reminded those gathered that justice can take decades: “How we get there is by you, the people, never giving up, always fighting and believing that the truth will come out and justice will be served.” Several babies died in a short span. Two died in unusual circumstances, in their mothers’ arms, yet to this day: no one has looked into the sudden spike. Instead, the detective who asked why has been punished. @TamaraUgo
Do you mean a prime minister who refuses to accept election results, and secretly bribes opposition MPs to defect to him, contrary to voter wishes? And immediately upon stealing a majority, shuts down Parliament's powers to hold him accountable? That kind of autocrat?
Opinion: It can happen here: Why an autocrat could rise to power in Canada theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
The doomsaying climate modellers completely missed the biggest transformation of the Earth's ecosystem in the last thirty years. Wait: it's worse than that. They predicted exactly the opposite of what has happened. How can we possibly justify continuing to trust them? The planet has not desertified. In fact, it is almost inconceivably greener. A whole continent's worth of additional vegetation. And crop yields are way up too. Why? Because of increased atmospheric carbon dioxide. There's a really Inconvenient Truth. x.com/jordanbpeterso…
In writing my book, Reconnect to Canada, the most difficult part was not recounting our history or explaining our political and legal systems. It was answering a simple question: What does it mean to be Canadian? Over the last few years, I have asked that question repeatedly. It was clear that something fundamental had shifted, but I could never quite articulate what it was. The responses to that question were revealing, and most telling was that there was no common answer at all. Some said hockey. Some said healthcare. Others said diversity or simply that Canadians are “nice.” The fact that we cannot define our values should concern every one of us. Then I came across this article, and it put things into perspective: “Socialism, in its depraved but effective way, appeals to people’s worst instincts and impulses. It presents the world as a zero-sum game in which there are winners and losers. It pits groups of people against each other based on arbitrary measures. For the narrow-minded, it makes sense. It embodies most of the seven deadly sins. Pride: Socialists have zero humility because they reject the fallibility of humanity. They can micromanage an entire society. They can create a centralized, one-size-fits-all, command-and-control utopia. They know all and know best. Envy: Taking one’s property because they have too much to give to others who have less is not noble; it is theft. Stealing with state-sanctioned approval is unjust. The sheer resentment that some have more, better, or bigger material possessions is the driving force of socialist ideology. Wrath: Socialist doctrine fuels anger, rage, violence, and a desire for vengeance against the so-called oppressors. Instead of mimicking the successful, the people turn their ire toward them. Sloth: Because socialism is about passing the buck and the blame, it excuses idleness and promotes laziness. It allows one to shirk personal duties and retards personal growth.” The uncomfortable truth is that Canada increasingly reflects these traits, yet we refuse to acknowledge it. We insist we are compassionate while shaming and disparaging those who hold different opinions. We claim to value equality while encouraging envy. We preach inclusion while dividing Canadians into competing groups. We speak of unity while constantly finding new reasons to divide ourselves. We demand accountability from everyone except the government. We expect government to solve problems that citizens, families, communities, and free people once solved themselves. Worst of all, we have become experts at pretending none of this is happening. We congratulate ourselves on being tolerant, generous, and virtuous while our institutions fail, productivity declines, public debt explodes, trust evaporates, and Canadians become more divided than they have been in decades. That is not something to celebrate. It is something to confront. If Canadians can no longer articulate what it means to be Canadian, perhaps it is because we have abandoned the principles that once defined us: freedom, personal responsibility, hard work, accountability, respect for the rule of law, and service to one another rather than dependence on the state. You do not need to take my word for it. Just open your eyes. Look around! A country does not lose its identity overnight. It loses it one abandoned principle at a time. A nation without shared values eventually becomes little more than a collection of people living within arbitrary borders. So if we are going to celebrate Canada today, let us celebrate the principles that made this country worth celebrating in the first place and commit ourselves to restoring them where they have been lost.
The Calgary Chamber warned about the risks of Alberta independence. Fair enough. But shouldn’t we also be asking about the risks of staying on the path we’re already on? A fair comparison requires us to examine both. #LetAlbertaDecide #Alberta
What I cannot reconcile is where some Canadians choose to draw the line. Billions of dollars in waste, mismanagement, or fraud often with little public outrage. Yet an estimated $100 million on a referendum, where citizens have a formal opportunity to make their voices heard, is suddenly unacceptable. The response to the Freedom Convoy is another example. Whether people agreed with the protest or not, the reaction went far beyond a disagreement about mandates. Bank accounts were frozen, emergency powers were invoked, and many openly supported extraordinary government action against fellow Canadians. Yet on the flip side, there was little outrage over the government’s illegal invocation of those powers, and no accountability or consequence. Instead, JT now parades around the world with a pop star, like none of it ever happened. The Calgary Stampede noise bylaw debate is the latest example. Regardless of where one stands on the bylaw itself, proposing or enforcing significant restrictions just days before the festivities begin, after operational decisions have been made and expenses incurred, raises legitimate questions about competence, timing, and judgment by the City. We see examples of this inconsistency all the time: unreasonable tolerance for some things, while demanding strict compliance and aggressive enforcement for others. What I find difficult to understand is not the disagreement itself, but the apparent absence of any consistent principle. If accountability matters, it should matter. If the rule of law matters, it should matter. If democratic participation matters, it should matter. When the standard changes depending on who is involved or what cause is being advanced, it becomes clear that the principle was never the point. The outcome was. That is how you end up with an upside-down world, where outcomes matter more than principles, and power matters more than consistency.
Calgary says it wants to be a world-class city. We celebrate our festivals, our music scene, our culture, our entertainment districts, and the energy that makes this city attractive to residents and visitors alike. But world-class cities come with tradeoffs. If you choose to
In our globalist world, "Your “leaders” are better understood as middle managers."

The moral case for Alberta independence begins with accountability. Ottawa is too distant, too centralized and too comfortable with a political culture where insiders, consultants, lobbyists and favoured interests feed off federal spending with little consequence. The worst corruption is not always what is illegal. It is what the system permits, rewards and normalizes. Government should be close enough to the people that citizens can see it, judge it and hold it to account. Alberta should not be ruled from a capital thousands of kilometres away by a permanent political class we cannot meaningfully discipline. Cutting out one vast, unaccountable layer of government is not just practical. It is moral.

This is interesting to think about: So Canada will accept dual citizenship for people borne outside Canada & move here BUT if Albertans who were borne in Canada are part of an Independent Alberta their citizenship is revoked whether they chose to vote for independence or not. Canada won't revoke citizenship for terrorists, treason, or espionage if you got citizenship before those acts. So, apparently Albertans are less than terrorists, traitors, & spies. Not sure that is a winning pro-Canada argument... Albertans need fairness, not fear & derision.
Yes you will sir. You’d like a divorce? Can’t come over on the weekend and be friends with benefits.
From the oil and gas industry to activism: Tamara Lich details her path into grassroots politics Grassroots movements start from the ground up, with normal, non-political people who at one point never dreamed they would become activists. This was certainly the case for @LichTamara, who, in a speech at the University of Calgary, detailed her journey from a quiet childhood in the prairies to garnering international attention as a leading figure in the 2022 Trucker Convoy. Tamara described how she was born in Cold Lake, Saskatchewan, to a young, single Métis woman, before being adopted by her now mother and father and going on to be the oldest of six. After moving to Alberta in the late 90s, she spent most of her career in the oil and gas industry — where her journey toward political activism began. In 2019, when bills C-69 and C-48 came in, she witnessed Canadians in her industry losing their jobs at an alarming rate. “Men were coming into my office, handing me their resume with tears in their eyes, because they were going to lose their house or they didn’t know what they were going to do,” she recalled. Having years of experience in the field, she described the Alberta oilpatch as “one of the safest, most environmentally friendly and efficient” in the world. Hence, her confusion at the time over why the government was constraining it. As a result, she joined a local group known as the Yellow Vesters, where she first began exercising her right to protest. Then came the pandemic, at the beginning of which both Tamara and her husband were laid off and travelled to Manitoba to spend extra time with her daughter, who was pregnant at the time. Eventually, in late 2021, they got their jobs back and moved back to Alberta — just in time for the Freedom Convoy to start two weeks later. But in those few weeks, the political climate in her new office was tense. “The CAO… [comes] in one day and… says, ‘So, Tamara, about that vaccine?’ and I said, ‘I’m not getting it,’” she recalled. “And he said, ‘Well, that’s okay… You can probably just do a test.’ And I said, ‘I ain’t doing that either, cause I’m not sick.’ And the assistant CAO laughed, and she’s like, ‘Are you gonna quit? Does that mean you’ll quit?’ And I said, ‘No, you’re going to have to fire me.’ I was not playing that game.” In the meantime, she had already been looking for ways to get involved. The catalyst for her — and for many across Canada — that made all the frustration boil over was when the vaccine mandates were extended to the trucking industry. “After two years of Justin Trudeau claiming that our truckers were heroes… likening them to war veterans… they decided to come for the truckers,” said Tamara. After seeing a video made by Chris Barber calling for all truckers to participate in a Canada-wide shutdown to protest the mandates, Tamara immediately started getting in contact with individuals who would eventually form the organizing team for the Freedom Convoy — including Chris. “I said, ‘Look, you’re gonna need logistical support, you’re gonna need money, and you’re gonna need… a social media presence,’” Tamara recalled. “And I said, ‘My skills are organization, administration, and logistics. How can I help you?’ And I simply offered my support.” The rest is history.
IT’S OFFICIAL: Mitch Sylvester has announced 301,620 signatures for the Alberta independence petition outside Elections Alberta’s office in Edmonton. He called on the Premier to recognize this as a clear expression of the democratic will of Albertans and move forward with putting the question on the October 19, 2026 referendum ballot.
We can’t design software to properly pay our public servants. Or design a helpful airport arrival app that works. Or deliver passports on time. Or keep track of expired visa holders. But we’re going to build AI supercomputers and launch rockets into space? Alrighty then.
We’re building the first public AI supercomputer, owned and operated in Canada, to power innovation across every sector. From healthcare to clean energy to startups scaling here at home, this is about making sure the future is built here. Applications are open. 🇨🇦 Nous
This is, quite frankly, disgusting. Freeland colluded with bank CEO’s to unconstitutionally and unlawfully freeze Canadians bank accounts with NO order from a judge or any parliamentary oversight. She giggled like a school girl when she delivered her announcement that would leave families with no way to pay their mortgages, buy medication for their children, pay their child support, or feed their families. We have text messages from bureaucrats trying to reason with her, perhaps even (GASP!) speak with organizers, but our (s)elected civil servants don’t speak to us little folk in the genpop. She is no hero for democracy and continues to fail upwards, the Liberal way.
Chrystia Freeland just won the “Hero of Democracy” award for illegally invoking the Emergencies Act, freezing the bank accounts of peaceful protesters, and having their heads smashed into the pavement during the Freedom Convoy. Oh… and let’s not forget the time she tried to
Hang on, you're getting a democracy award? You imposed martial law on Canada because peaceful truckers were honking their horns at you. You threw your critics in prison and seized their bank accounts without legal process. Four judges in a row called it illegal, you crook.
