The reveals that Kiprotich was moved through Richfield, Hazina and Industrial police stations without being formally booked, with officers allegedly refusing to record his entry or provide their force numbers, raising questions over who authorized the operation, why established booking procedures were bypassed and how the covert branch fits within the wider police command structure.

That investigation, like all the others you have ordered, will go nowhere because it was done by police officers outside your command. You are clueless about the operations of the National Police Service. I do have more information as to the happenings in the Service than you do. The National Police Service was taken over a long time ago by Mr. Kipchumba Murkomen and Mr. Raymond Omollo, with the concurrence of Mr. William Ruto; orders are directly issued to your DIG, Eliud Langat, and DCI Mohamed Amin. You are just a flower girl leading a shell, and you will be sacrificed at the right time and blamed for the excesses in the Service. Let me bring you up to speed. Mr. Alex Kiprotich was preparing for an assignment in the Mau Forest, where thousands of Mau evictees from the Kipsigis community have been conned out of millions of shillings in compensation money by officials of the National Government Administration under the direction of Mr. Murkomen and Mr. Raymond Omollo. This money has been paid by the duo to their brokers and proxies. Alex was to publish an exposé giving a blow-by-blow account of how the funds have been stolen, leaving the evictees helpless and in anguish. A late-night meeting on Monday evening between Mr. William Ruto and Mr. Kipchumba Murkomen sealed the fate of Mr. Alex Kiprotich, where it was decided that he had to be stopped. The DCI, Mr. Mohamed Amin, was instructed to put Alex under 24-hour surveillance. The DCI assembled a team headed by one Mr. Zachary Kariuki, who, though retired, has been recalled by Amin to coordinate this squad trained in abductions, killings, and cover-ups. This is the team that abducted Alex Kiprotich and was instructed to abandon the earlier plan to eliminate him after the abduction was captured live and provoked public outrage. This team of 60 rogue police killers is responsible for the abduction of businessman Jimmy in Mlolongo, as ordered by DIG Langat, Zizo Abdulaziz, Lawyer Molu, and killed Rachel Wandeto after you and Kipchumba Murkomen visited her in hospital. That is why, even after Mr. William Ruto told Kenyans that the killers of Rachel Wandeto would be arrested, it has not happened and will not happen. This is an argument between Kenya's past and its future.

We do not know where he is as we issue this statement. This is the second time in as many months that Mr Kiprotich has been targeted. On 27 June 2026, armed men in a Toyota Probox a vehicle model repeatedly linked to enforced disappearances of government critics in Kenya, tried to seize him from his car as he drove to work in Nakuru. He got away by locking his doors and driving off. That attempt came days after President William Ruto publicly criticised this Group over its coverage, and our own investigations traced the vehicle to the National Police Service's Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau. No one has ever been held to account for it. Tonight, that threat has been carried out. We do not believe this is a coincidence. Mr Kiprotich has been at the forefront of our editorial output, including reporting that has scrutinised the conduct of the State, and tonight's abduction bears all the hallmarks of a targeted attack on a journalist for doing his job. We believe it may be linked to elements within the State seeking to intimidate this Group into silence. If that is confirmed, this is not simply a crime against one man. It is an assault on the Constitution of Kenya, on the freedoms of expression and of the media guaranteed under Articles 33 and 34, and on the right of every Kenyan to independent information. We say this plainly and without equivocation: the Standard Group holds the State responsible for Alex Kiprotich's safety and his life, and for anything that happens to him while he remains missing. Protecting the life and liberty of every citizen is the State's first duty, not an afterthought, and Mr Kiprotich's safety now rests entirely in its hands. We are demanding: 1. PUBLIC LAND IS NOT THE PRESIDENT’S PROPERTY Public land is not government property in the ordinary sense. The State holds it in trust for the people of Kenya. The President is a custodian of that trust, not its owner. That is why public land cannot be taken, allocated or converted at the President’s discretion. Any change must follow the Constitution and the law, with the required approvals and public accountability. The argument that land must be taken before someone else grabs it turns the rule of law on its head. We cannot prevent land grabbing by legitimising it. Kenya has already lost too much public land. What remains must be protected for present and future generations. Public land belongs to the people. The State holds it in trust. No President has a personal title to it.
