React Native WebGPU now support high depth bit onscreen colors on Android and iOS via getPreferredHighBitDepthCanvasFormat(). This is improvement will ship to React Native Skia too.
What if a newspaper app had real paper? 🗞️ Just built this React Native app where the pages behave like real paper: - Scroll too far: it stretches and crumples - Swipe: the paper warps and crumples under your finger - Bad article? Tear the corner, crumple it into a ball… and yeet it 🗑️ All at 60fps on the UI thread. Pure real-time Skia shaders + hand-rolled 3D mesh with Reanimated. This was stupidly fun to build. Recreating other apps' charts is the best feature discovery I know. Every rebuild surfaces something I hadn't thought of. I rebuilt Robinhood, Kraken and Backpack with react-native-livechart. Robinhood: a static day chart, the segment under your finger lights up as you scrub.
