The footage of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Almog Sarusi, Ori Danino, and Alex Lobanov was found in the Gaza Strip and documents them over months in captivity. In August 2024, they were murdered by their captors as IDF forces closed in on the area. Statement from their families: The families of the Beautiful Six (Hersh, Carmel, Ori, Eden, Almog, and Alex) want to thank the people of Israel and the millions around the world who watched the harrowing footage of our loved ones with us. Lighting Hanukkah candles in that dark place captures the essence of the Jewish spirit: light prevailing over darkness. Hamas filmed these videos as propaganda, but the humanity of the beautiful six shines through this footage. It is stronger than any terrorist organization. These videos bear witness to evil and failure. The entire world must see our loved ones in these moments, their unity, strength, and humanity even in the darkest times. They were taken alive, they survived in captivity, and they should have come home alive. Nothing will bring our loved ones back to life. Only bringing the truth to light, only genuine accountability at the national level, can bring justice and healing to all our hearts. Our families want to remind everyone that the mission isn't over. We're calling for the immediate return of hero Roni Gvili, the shield of Kibbutz Alumim. And we're calling on every family in Israel: when you gather to light Hanukkah candles, remember our loved ones and all the families of soldiers, the wounded, the hostages, the murdered, and the fallen who will never light candles together again, families who have been waiting nearly 800 days for answers.

Two years. Two years passed since the last moment I saw Avinatan, the love of my life. Two years since the moment terrorists kidnapped us, put me on a motorcycle, and tore me away from Avinatan before the eyes of the entire world. From that moment, our journey in captivity was separated. I was held captive with children, women, and the elderly, while Avinatan was held alone. I was mostly kept inside houses, while Avinatan was only in the tunnels. Hamas released videos and signs of life from me, while there was no information at all about Avinatan. I was held captive by Hamas for 246 days, while Avinatan was held for 738 days. I came back in a heroic rescue operation, and Avinatan returned in a deal. But both of us, against all odds, came home and were reunited! I cannot put into words the range of emotions I felt when I saw him for the first time after so long. Each of us faced death countless times, and yet, after two years apart, we are finally taking our first steps together again in the State of Israel. At last, we can begin our healing together. The recovery will be long; we still haven’t truly processed what has happened here over these past two years. But we won. We won our personal war, and the war of all those who fought alongside us to reach this moment. And now, the time has come to begin our shared journey together. I want to say a huge thank you, first and foremost, to the @IDF soldiers and security forces who have been fighting for so long and risk their lives for us every single day. Thank you to our family, friends, and to the people of Israel, Am Yisrael, who raised their voices when we couldn’t speak. ### Mossad's Daring Tehran Operation: Inside the Assassination of Hxmas Leader Ismail Haniyeh --- As widely speculated but not officially confirmed by the Israeli government, Israel was indeed behind the assassination of Hxmas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week. The JC can reveal that the explosive device placed under his bed was planted by two Iranians recruited by the Mossad from the Ansar al-Mahdi security unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—the very unit meant to secure the building and its guests. The Iranians themselves realized this after the assassination when security footage showed guards moving stealthily towards Haniyeh's room, opening the door with a key, and entering. Three minutes later, the guards (who were offered a six-figure sum and relocation to a northern European country) were seen calmly leaving, exiting the building, and driving away in a black car. They were smuggled out of Iran by Mossad an hour later. Contrary to reports, the device was placed on the day of the explosion, at 4:23 pm, nine hours before it was activated when Haniyeh entered his room.
