My Salute to the young on International Youth Day. Today, as we celebrate International Youth Day, I salute the courage, creativity, energy, and enormous potential of our young people. They are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; they are the greatest asset of our country today. Yesterday, while travelling to Bauchi, I was reminded once again of what our youths are capable of. The two captains who flew us were young men of 20 and 28 years respectively, while the crew members were also in their 20s. Their competence, confidence, and professionalism were a powerful reminder that age is no barrier to excellence when young people are allowed to learn, work, and lead. Across football, technology, medicine, aviation, entrepreneurship, academia, the creative industries, and countless other fields, our young people continue to demonstrate that Nigeria has no shortage of talent. What we lack is the deliberate investment and enabling environment to help that talent flourish. We must therefore invest more in quality education, skills, healthcare, technology, sports, and decent employment. We must create a country where a young Nigerian does not have to leave Nigeria to fulfil his or her potential. Our youths are not a burden to be managed. They are our greatest national asset and the builders of the Nigeria we desire. On this International Youth Day, I celebrate our young people and reaffirm my commitment to a Nigeria where every young person has the opportunity to learn, work, create, lead, and prosper. By Making Excuses for Unverified Certificates, We Are Planting Poison in the Soul of Our Society A nation that tolerates unverified academic credentials at any level of leadership, regardless of who is involved, risks destroying the very standards upon which a society is built. The issue is not about an individual. It is about standards, accountability, and the values we choose to pass on to the next generation. We cannot continue to excuse blurred, missing, questionable, or unverified credentials simply because they belong to someone we support. The process through which people attain positions of responsibility matters greatly. How we get into leadership is as important as what we do with leadership. If we normalise the abandonment of basic verification today, tomorrow we may have professors who never attended a university, doctors who never studied medicine, and judges who never studied law. That is the dangerous precedent we must never allow. Nigeria cannot sacrifice its future on the altar of today's transactional politics. We must build a society where truth is not partisan, standards are not negotiable, and accountability applies equally to everyone. History will judge us not only by those we defended, but by the principles we were willing to defend. We must choose truth over convenience, standards over sentiments, and the future over political expediency. 🇳🇬 FROM EBONYI TO ITALY: SUPPORT OUR YOUNG DEBATERS On Friday, June 12, 2026, White Cloud College, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, emerged as the winner of the 2026 National Democracy Day Debate Competition. Representing Ebonyi State at the national competition, the school defeated schools from other parts of Nigeria, including a school representing the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja). This remarkable victory has earned the students the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the International Debate Tournament in Italy this November. 🇮🇹🇳🇬 Interestingly, White Cloud College is also the school that produced Eze Brian Chinny, who recently emerged as the winner of the Sterling Bank National Mathematics Competition, handled by Alex Onyia. The school has already committed substantial funds towards visa processing and other preparations for the students' trip to Italy. Nigerian doctor Dr. Dorcas Eniola Akanbi graduated from Rostov State Medical University, Russia, with an outstanding 4.90/5.00 CGPA, emerging as one of the institution's best graduating students. This was in July 2026. This remarkable journey began in Nigeria at University of Lagos where she began studying Medicine and Surgery. I am deeply concerned by the comments made by Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir at an event in Kano this weekend. At this critical moment in our nation’s history, statements that promote division and disunity must be firmly discouraged. It is particularly troubling to hear such rhetoric from a religious leader of Sheikh Jingir’s stature and influence. Let it be clearly stated: the good people of Kano do not endorse or support these divisive remarks. Political and religious leaders alike carry a solemn responsibility to uphold truth, foster unity, and advance reconciliation. We must not lend our voices to utterances capable of undermining the very foundation of our nationhood. This morning, I drove with my daughter for her IT, and I felt incredibly proud and accomplished as a father. My wife was monitoring us excitedly over the phone. She will be entering Part 3 this year. But come to think of it, how is she entering Part 3 this year when she only matriculated last year? Last year, she did JUPEB and came out with the best result in her field. She took after her dad 😂 All she needed was a good JAMB score. Unfortunately, she scored 179. We were devastated. But Alex Onyia would have none of it. He challenged JAMB, and JAMB eventually acknowledged that there had been a glitch. She rewrote the examination and scored 299, the highest score for her course among those admitted that year. So, she matriculated directly into Year 2! Think about it: if Alex hadn't gone the extra mile, she might have lost two precious years and would only be hopefully gaining admission this year. This is why, when some people see me passionately promoting people like Alex Onyia @winexviv, they wonder if something is wrong with me. 'I Never Said Military Should Reject Salary Increase'. He is invoking fatwa against Christians. Repeating the now infamous phrase, “all is fair in politics,” a war chant. Sheikh Yahaya Jingir is telling the over 140 million Christians in Nigeria that Bola Ahmed Tinubu doesn’t need their votes. So “whether Christians like it or not, Nigeria belongs to Muslims.” He said the quiet part out loud. So I hope the attacks on the Cardinal & the Catholic Bishops is evidence enough? This is a political Imam employed by Aso Rock to cause divisions ahead of 2027. Of course, the DSS will not have him picked up like it’s done in Tajikistan (a Muslim-majority country, with roughly 96% to 98% practicing Islam). Tajikistan enforces a very strict & sweeping crackdown on independent, unregistered, & foreign-educated Muslim preachers, utilizing broad anti-extremism laws to maintain absolute state control over religious affairs. One Muslims will make a statement or voice his personal opinion and the media and people will find a way to blame all Muslims for that action. There is over a billion Muslims around the World, no single person speaks for all Muslims. This should be common sense.
