Just imagine being an anaesthetised patient whose skull is opened & brain exposed. A non-doctor who brags about his “zero training” in neurosurgery cuts into your brain. This is happening now in the NHS. Absolutely scandalous. A travesty of patient safety & informed consent.

I am 55 years old. America is the only country I've ever known. And I love my country. When I was in school, I learned about the horrors of slavery. Sure, it was a limited education, but I totally got the gist of it. We learned how people were taken from Africa, and how many DIED during the journey here, forced to labor in hot fields while being whipped, raped, deprived of education, and murdered. In fact, when I was young, there was a mini-series on TV called Roots that depicted the brutality of slavery in horrifyingly explicit detail. And then I did my OWN research, reading more books and watching more documentaries and movies. But somehow, I was able to maintain my love of America. Despite all of the cruelty and brutality I had learned about, I was somehow able to figure out that the people alive in America today had NOTHING TO DO with slavery 200 years ago. Somehow, I can still say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the Star Spangled Banner, no problem. But dishonest fascists like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Ron DeSantis want to deprive American children of the knowledge of slavery, and African American studies because they say it's "propaganda leftist agenda" designed to teach kids to “hate America.” That's a preposterous lie. There are PLENTY of evils and horrors America is responsible for, and if you don't teach kids what happened in the past they may be DOOMED to repeat those horrors in the future. Today's kids are being asked to treat as normal these "shooter drills" where the possibility of being shot with bullets that make them unrecognizable is a very real possibility, but we think they can't handle learning the truth about what happened 200 years ago? If you ask me, those of us who learned the truth about America, and STILL love our country, are even more patriotic than those who are trying to whitewash it and hide the truth from kids. Don't minimize it. Don't rationalize it, with bullshit like "oh, it wasn't all bad because some people learned skills." RESPECT THESE KIDS. TELL THEM THE TRUTH.

At a time when some seek to ban books and bury history, we’re making it clear that we can’t just choose to learn what we want to know. We should learn everything – the good, the bad, and the truth of who we are as a nation. That's what great nations do.

Please don’t take the bait that the Jan 6 indictment violates the defendant’s First Amendment right. His lies about election fraud are protected. What’s not protected is illegally setting up phony electors based on those lies. That’s what he’s indicted for.

That Trump will be tried for his coup attempt is not a violation of his rights. It is a fulfillment of his rights. It is the grace of the American republic. In other systems, when your coup attempt fails, what follows is not a trial.

Judge Chutkan, who will preside over the Trump trial, is one of the most respected jurists in DC. She has a criminal defense background—serving as a public defender for years. She is known as fair minded to all. She was confirmed by the US Senate to her federal judgeship by a vote of 95-0.

This will be the most significant trial in our lifetimes. There will be so much disinformation and spinning. And so much that will go to the heart of who we are as a people. All Americans should be able to see the trial for themselves. It absolutely must be televised. I very much hope the Chief Justice authorizes it.

I’m no politician. But I’ve read the indictment. Any elected official who can’t tell the difference between a “witch hunt” & the required application of the rule of law shouldn’t be serving, nor should citizens place faith in them.

I keep being asked what I make of the UFO thing in Congress yesterday, so here it is: I watched a few clips and saw some people who seemed to believe stuff saying extraordinary things without presenting extraordinary evidence. Therefore I have nothing more to say, other than: It would be great if true - it would take a bit of the pressure off our civilisation if we weren’t the only means within the Milky Way by which the Universe understands itself. Sadly, as of today, I still feel that pressure, so can we perhaps focus on not messing our world up rather than hoping that, to paraphrase Sagan, someone will float down to save us from ourselves.

Boris Johnson has made Charlotte Owen a lawmaker for life. She has very little work experience of any kind and has no significant achievements to her name. She is now a life peer. I want to know the reason why and I want to know if it was corrupt.

What a vile, crazy woman. What she needs is a shrink.

Rhodes is burning...What really matters is not that a Tourist playground burns, its the animals burned, wildlife lost and Nature destroyed...but out headlines talk of cancelled flights and holidays. If we think this is inconvenient..you wait to see the inconvenience of climate refugees, lack of food and water....floods, droughts and war....but lets just carry on leave that to our kids to deal with.
