We want players thinking about the strategy in front of them rather than spending their round looking for balls. The fifth is a great example of how width off the tee makes the course more enjoyable for the high handicap while forcing the scratch player to think about strategy.

We are firm believers that foursomes is the best format in golf, so after lunch on Monday we decided to add a little extra nonsense to the mix: 8-ball foursomes. It is organised chaos, of course, but in the best possible way. From a pace-of-play point of view it keeps things moving, and socially it is a brilliant way to get everyone around the course together. It went down a storm at @TheAddingtonGC and is almost certainly something we will keep up our sleeve for future events.

@TheAddingtonGC was the perfect playground for a funky format and course set-up at our Summer Meeting on Monday, and boy did Course Manager Jonathan deliver. Four greens featured a red pin worth double points, tempting attendees into answering questions they probably did not have the answers to. All the while, it showed off the brilliant green complexes, sharp bunkering and acres of short grass that make them so fun.

Mondays don't come much better than looping @TheAddingtonGC, followed by heaps of pizza, burgers, beer, rosé and music on the hill by the fire, before heading back out for an 11-hole whisky loop with fresh pins in 8-ball foursomes. A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Spring Meeting, to @FootJoyEurope and @TitleistEurope for supporting, and to the team at The Add for a truly outrageous course set-up that showed the place off at its very best.

Adirondack chairs behind the 16th tee are a sign of what's to come. In future, this will be the 12th hole and this view will be enjoyed from the new clubhouse. For now, it's a nice chance to relax and watch your playing partners hit high draws down this rollercoaster of a par 5.

Ryan Noades and the guys at @cdpgolf1 have done something rarely seen in golf course architecture these days - they've created a totally unique, one-of-a-kind hole. The scale of the restored 7th at @TheAddingtonGC has to be seen to be believed - over 100 yards of green with pin positions that will have matchplay opponents rubbing their hands with glee. We can't wait to take it on at our Summer Meeting next month.

The 9th - a hole that can''t be overpowered, but instead rewards strategy and precision. A well-placed long iron, a mid-iron to the green, and a walk over two of our famous trestle bridges - then if you can navigate its tricky turtle shell green, you might walk away with par.
