I keep hearing about 200k BTC owned by the US Government. 96k BTC is from the Bitfinex hack, after due process I would expect those stolen funds to be returned to Bitfinex.

Chart of the week: BTC's correlation to stocks takes out a cluster of liquidations down to 82k in the back drop of very neutral investor activity. 75k presents a juicy target apart from BTC being oversold with strong mean revertive forces now dominant.

Regarding the mean revertive forces at play... Urgency Model estimates the direction and magnitude of urgency flowing through the books. The liquidation flush pushed this model to an extreme, all past times this happened we saw a bounce.

Every coin has a story. Circa 2015 XRP was #2. Low volumes allowed their trading team to manipulate the price up while systematically dumping their 100% pre-mine onto retail who believed it was the next payment network. To reinforce this grift, Ripple signed 100s of hot air partnership deals with bankers, because banks felt pressure to innovate with "blockchain". Ripple would pay XRP as part of the deal.

The US should not have a strategic CRYPTO reserve. The US should only hold bitcoin. I'm one of the biggest proponents of crypto, but when it comes to preserving wealth, bitcoin is best suited! No XRP in the US strategic reserve!

The Bitcoin Strategic Reserve needs buy in from Congress and the House, issuing an executive order on inauguration day is the blunt way to execute this. The smart way is to assess the likelihood of success before pushing the go button. That's my guess at the BSR status.

If it's "go", bare in mind nothing is immediate. Would take in the range of 6-24 months before the US Govt could execute on BTC stacking. Nevertheless the markets would start a process of speculative front running.
