Back before Uber the ride hailing company came into being, the adverb uber - as in uber tired, uber funny, etc. - seemed poised to displace the adverb super in informal speech. Once it became the name of a company, the other usage quickly vanished.

@Itsjoeco @pmarca "American Renaissance" is another possible name. American artists and intellectuals of the time were obsessed with the original Renaissance and considered their own era to have much in common with it.

@upstatefederlst One on the left isn't brick. It's brick facade, probably built in the late 1960s or 1970s. The fenestration, with the windows squashed up under the eaves is terrible. So is the mingy, ill-proportioned allusion to an Adam-style doorway. 1 on right just cringily of the moment.

Of course, the era was abundant in political strife. Still, the wide embrace of the American Renaissance aesthetic across the political spectrum implies a shared feeling of taking part in a valuable project and a confidence in a bright future. Would be great to get that back.
