@ShaggyEells Same here. My AI follow-up agents run in suggest mode, so nothing goes out without my OK. One thing for anyone copying this before peak: if the AI texts customers, start A2P 10DLC registration now. Mine got rejected three times before approval.
Google Business Profile verification took me 11 weeks. If you're launching next spring, start your profile now. It's the one step you can't speed up, and everything local depends on it.
@DannyMagazu Same on Google. Profile verification took me 11 weeks and my first review didn't land until July 10. By Oct 1 it was 15 five-star reviews, and Google organic plus the profile brought in 5 customers. Slow start, then it stacks.
@stevehunsaker1 My Meta contribution is smaller, but September's instant-form campaign came in at $28 a lead against a $41-46 benchmark. The lesson was the cheap lead is only cheap if someone texts them back in minutes.
@christmaslightr Volume is where this gets tested. At peak we got 28 leads in 10 days. What kept up was the boring stuff: an automated first text, a takeoff tool that pulls roofline footage from aerial data, and a mockup template. Have that ready before ad spend goes up.
@dylthorn Flip side from the permanent side: 15 of my 45 May-Aug leads became customers, 33%. Permanent buyers usually show up already sold on the idea. The job is a fast reply and a clear quote, not convincing them.
The hardest part of starting a permanent lighting company isn't the install. It's getting the phone to ring before you have a single review. For the next two months I'm posting exactly how I did it. Real numbers, including what broke.
@danielcberk @XMoney We need a live counter of the donations.
@plasticboss That's the whole pitch: install once, change colors by holiday. Same in Denver. One thing that helps: I show people a nighttime mockup of their own house before they commit. 15 of my first 45 leads became customers.
New here, but not new to this. I run 5280 Lights, a permanent lighting company in Denver. Launched in May with zero customers. Five months later: 19 customers, $68,041 collected. Now I'm helping other installers launch with the same system. installerlaunch.com
@stevehunsaker1 You're the one reading a P&L. My guess is most of those 40-50 die on follow-up, not price. Quotes go out and nobody chases them. 15 of my 45 May-Aug leads became customers, and the biggest lever was never letting a quote go quiet.
@DannyMagazu 18 of 22 coming back with no pitch is the best argument for seasonal there is. Are any of your repeat customers asking about permanent lights yet? That's all we do at 5280 Lights, and it's the upsell I'd be watching.
@dylthorn Agree on dumbing it down. One thing I'd add for anyone starting in 2026: put "How did you hear about us?" on the quote form from day one. I didn't, and 10 of my first 19 customers have no lead source. Hard to double down on what you can't see.

@piggy1627 75k, I could pay off student loans, pay off my credit card debt, and put a down payment on a home. What you want from me?
@piggy1627 75k, would pay off student loans, pay off debt, and put a down payment on a house. Can you help?
@rivercitywoman @Verizon That's why people play the game where every couple years they switch to another carrier, the only way it works. Super dumb though and screws the carriers over except most people don't wanna go through the hassle.
@NixForSix I don't feel like theres a huge crowd of people that wished for him to be gone, I know I didn't. Great to see him balling though!
@just_unique0 Coming from an iPhone 16 Pro that only had 128gb and going to the 18 Pro with 512gb, between the increase in storage and just a snappier feeling device, I haven't had a single regret actually.
