In Lebanon, the implications of this documentation- and the questions it raises about the implementation of the Israel-Lebanon understandings - are well understood. If one of Hezbollah's "civilian" mechanisms is already operating openly in one of the designated pilot areas, and neither the Lebanese state nor the Lebanese Armed Forces are preventing it, it is fair to ask how effectively the agreement is being enforced today and whether it will be enforced in practice going forward. Since Israel invaded southern Syria following Assad's fall, its forces routinely entered the village of Abedin in Daraa, searched houses and interrogated locals. Sources in southern Syria tell me that last week, the Israeli Army established a permanent position close to Abedin (pictured), and prevented locals from approaching their fields and collecting their harvest, which they toiled to grow all year long. 90% of Syrians are below the poverty line, Quneitra was the most impoverished governorate of Syria even before the Syrian uprising and civil war. People in Quneitra are not eating enough, yet Israeli forces are preventing these impoverished farmers from accessing their lands. Today, the children of Abedin laid rocks on the road to prevent the Israeli Army patrols to enter their village. The Israeli soldiers shot in the air to scatter the children. According to Israeli security sources speaking to Israeli media at the time of the invasion, there was no concrete information whatsoever about any Syrian plans to carry out attacks against the Golan or Israel. Still, Israel invaded Syria, justifying it by fearing a repeat of Oct 7th. Since then Israeli forces have destroyed homes, fields, beehives, arrested dozens of locals and searched multiple homes in the middle of the night. Today, the children of Abedin resisted peacefully. It is only a matter of time until this changes. Then Israel will justify its occupation by saying the area is swarming with "terrorists." A U.S. official told me that the agreement between Israel and Syria is pretty much done. Yet, Israel keeps trying to place obstacles. I believe Netanyahu doesn not want to reach this deal because it'll cost him domestically to withdraw from Syria. High-level US engagement is needed to seal this deal.

Currently working on Bint Jbeil, but will take a while since there are thousands of buildings to look at, as well as issues with openstreetmap not recognizing many buildings (prompting me to add them manually). Since this will take a long time, I am planning on using automated damage recognition software for an early, preliminary damage scan before releasing the manual one. At least 42 Hezbollah militiamen from Meis a-Jabal were killed since March 2, 2026, when Hezbollah fired 6 rockets at Israel, sparking this war. Since then, the Israeli Army occupied this small town in southern Lebanon (where about 7,000 people reside) and destroyed it. Hezbollah supporters in Meis proudly call it "the village of martyrs" due to the large number of Hezbollah militiamen from the town who've been killed in previous conflicts including the 2023-2024 war, and Hezbollah's intervention in Syria, which failed to prevent the toppling of Assad's dictatorship.

𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗨𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗖𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗟 𝗪𝗔𝗥 Two things are happening in Lebanon at the same time, and both are connected and extremely dangerous. First, Lebanese officials and the president are increasingly trying to divide the Lebanese people between those who oppose the resistance and those who support it, most of whom are Shiia. Officials publicly mourn Civil Defense members and certain Lebanese civilians when they are killed, while pro-resistance civilians who are martyred are ignored, as if they are not even Lebanese. The message being pushed is clear: supporters of the resistance are being portrayed not as Lebanese citizens, but as “Iranians on Lebanese soil.” This is not just political rhetoric, it is the deliberate isolation of an entire segment of Lebanese society and an attempt to strip them of their national identity. A country begins collapsing the moment part of its population is treated as foreign inside its own homeland. This path does not lead to stability. It leads to internal conflict, sectarian hatred, and eventually civil war. At the same time, the UAE is playing a growing role in fueling Sunni-Shiia sectarian division in both Lebanon and Syria in ways that directly benefit Israel. Dividing societies from within, turning communities against each other, and deepening sectarian tensions only weakens the region and serves those who benefit from fragmentation and chaos and in this case it’s Israel.

Since the onset of the ceasefire in northern Israel (April 17, 2026), there has been a clear upward trend in Hezbollah’s daily rate of attacks. The organization is primarily focusing on attacks against IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon, with an increasing reliance on explosive drones, which have become its main operational tool. To date, four IDF soldiers and one civilian (an IDF employee) have been killed, most as a result of explosive drone strikes. At the same time, Hezbollah continues to carry out attacks toward Israeli territory, but with deliberate ambiguity and limited claims of responsibility in most cases. Moreover, the pattern of activity does not indicate a consistent effort to establish a clear “response equation” vis-à-vis Israel, as seen in previous conflicts, but rather a continuous, self-sustained campaign of attacks that is not necessarily tied to specific triggering events. International law grants special protection to medical personnel, ambulances, and hospitals as long as they operate solely for humanitarian purposes. However, when medical infrastructure is used for military purposes, it may lose this protection. The healthcare systems of Hezbollah and Amal systematically incorporate military activity, including the smuggling of weapons, the transport of operatives, and even participation in operational missions, thereby deliberately blurring the boundaries between civilian and military spheres. This is not an isolated case, but rather a pattern of activity: a deliberate integration of civilian and military dimensions that undermines the central principle of distinction in international law between those who are involved and those who are not. Therefore, claims of unlawful harm cannot be assessed in isolation from the central question: were these infrastructures used for military purposes? The "military infrastructure" included a funeral, and civilian homes, killing over 300 people. The operation reportedly eliminated a senior aide to Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem. According to widely circulated but unverified reports on social media and Lebanese platforms, the strikes may have disrupted a planned Hezbollah-led effort to seize key institutions in the capital. These accounts claim the group was potentially preparing to reposition fighters into mixed urban neighborhoods, besiege the Grand Serail government palace, target Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and other officials, and push for political change during the fragile post ceasefire period. Lebanon’s cabinet then issued an emergency directive ordering the army and security forces to immediately enforce a full state monopoly on weapons throughout the Beirut Governorate. The army has deployed heavily across Beirut, with commando units patrolling the streets and snipers positioned on high rise buildings near the government palace. This unusually rapid sequence has raised legitimate questions about possible connections.
