Anyone find it odd that the only viral articles these publications can write about education is the removing of devices? You know what the great thing is about a laptop? You can just keep it closed whenever you don’t want to use it. And can open when you want to use it with a purpose.

It’s worth letting this work sink in - researchers are probing the psychological state and stability of an AI system. They can’t infer behavior from how the model is designed - they have to probe, just as you do with humans …

We did our most in-depth model welfare assessment yet for Claude Mythos Preview. We’re still super uncertain about all of this, but as models become more capable and sophisticated we think it's an increasingly important topic for both moral and pragmatic reasons. 🧵

Most published research on AI in education is studying a technology that no longer exists. LLM capabilities double every 7 months. Peer review takes 2 years. New post on why the evidence base is broken and what we might do about it.
